  • "This is a lovely cottage, exquisitely decorated and with a good inventory."

The research and presentation of occupants in times past is commended. The kitchen is a bit cramped, but I acknowledge it cannot really be improved, without building an extension. The bathroom wash basin tap/pipe is annoying as it impedes access to the basin. It’s great in its context but not on practicality. Perhaps it would be beneficial if the vendors supplied flannels to help overcome this. ( We had our own flannels) That is the only gripe! I love the hall stand backing to the basin. We enjoyed our stay in a lovely cottage and will certainly return. Thank you

  • "The location and attention to detail at Emerald cottage was excellent."

The cottage is decorated to the highest standard throughout. Information provided was interesting and gave you an insight into the world of the Brontë family. Haworth itself is beautiful and full of great shops pubs and eateries. We enjoyed a car free few days enjoying walks the Steam Train and a bus trip via pretty villages to Hebden bridge. We would definitely recommend the cottage and destination. Louise and Steve April 2022

Hi Louise and Steve we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and the luxury of not having to rely on a car. We find the location of the property a real boon allowing you to explore on foot. • "A beautifully decorated and cosy cottage."

All the furnishings and decor were really thoughtful and in keeping with the Bronte theme. The location was perfect, only a short walk from the village centre and close to all the walks. We didn't need to drive anywhere during our stay. A hamper was provided for when we arrived which was a lovely touch. We had such a nice time and would definitely stay again!

Hi Charlotte, thankyou very much for your positive words and that the cottage met your expectations. The location of the cottage is something we are so grateful for as it makes everything so accessible. We are glad you enjoyed the hamper and the Bronte theme, it is one of the main pulls of the area, so we felt the theme would be a appreciated by our guests and we are delighted the feedback on this has been so positive. We hope to see you again. All the best. Ian Property Owner

  • "What an absolute delight this property is."

From the moment you step through the door, you see and feel all the effort that has gone into making this a very special place. The highlight was definitely the way the rooms had been dedicated to each Brontë family members. We so enjoyed reading the information folders which had been carefully and lovingly complied by the owner. The location was perfect for our little break and we hope to return again one day. Thank you for providing us with such an interesting and homely place form our stay in Haworth.

Hi Julie. We were delighted to receive your feedback and it means so much to us. We spent the time on the rooms, the information on the Brontë family and the decor in the hope there would be others out there who shared our passion for the history and beauty of Haworth. It gives us great solace that our efforts are being rewarded by guests who understand what we were trying to achieve. I hope we get to see you again on Green Street. Ian Property Owner

  • "We have just come back from a lovely cosy week long break in this snug little cottage."

The house is immaculately decorated and has a nice ambience, it looks as it does on the pictures, with the addition of a comfy corner sofa in the living room. Usually rental properties are left rather neutral but this really felt like the owners wanted to give holiday makers a sense of feeling at home in Bronte country. There is lots of information on the history of the cottage and also the Bronte family in the rooms which is an unusual and welcome touch. The kitchen is a small galley kitchen so think ahead with regards to cooking evening meals. We really liked eating out at Pave, and there is a great pie shop (Hunters of Haworth) which does partially baked deep filled pies ready to throw in the oven and finish off. We had a great week away in a lovely, relaxing, well thought out cottage in a great location.

Hi Amber. Thank-you for the positive feedback and we are delighted you enjoyed your time in Haworth. After feedback from another guest we invested in the corner sofa and we are thrilled that it is as enjoyable to relax on as we had hoped. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Emerald Cottage, the cottage was beautifully decorated and has everything you need and is very comfortable."

However I would suggest providing a few more logs, especially in winter as we spent quite a lot of time and money locating more for our stay. Great location for walking to town, lots of nice cafes and restaurants. Also great for getting bus to the lovely Hebden Bridge which was 30 mins away. Although it was a very wet week we managed some lovely walks to various waterfalls, Bolton Abbey and along the canal from Hebden bridge to Todmorden(returning by train) Thanks for a lovely week, would recommend!

Hi Polly. Thankyou for your positive feedback and really happy you had a good time in Haworth and our cottage and that the location worked so well for you. We have noted your suggestion on more logs and it is something we had debated between ourselves on how best to resolve. We were conscious of dominating the living space with logs, but also conscious of the need for additional logs in times of cold weather. The additional logs are in the cellar and we need to be conscious of safety as the steps are steep. This is something we are meeting to discuss next week and see what solutions we can come up with to provide enough logs whilst not compromising the living space or safety. Thanks again. • "A brilliant place to stay."

So much heritage and character to the cottage and this is reflected beautifully in the folders in each room detailing the history of the place. The cottage is very spacious with 3 floors. Immaculately clean and everything is thought of so guests have everything they need, from kitchen utensils to many apps on the Smart TV. Andrew is very kind and communicative and wants you to have the best stay possible and this is reflected in his cottage and manner towards guests. Haworth itself is a beautiful, scenic village. The area is peaceful and quiet so you can enjoy a relaxing time and once you’ve found this gem of a place then you will definitely want to come back.

Hi Marc, we are delighted to have received such positive feedback and that you enjoyed your stay and Haworth. Communicating with you was very easy and you were a model guest. Thanks for your custom and i hope we get to welcome you again. Many thanks. Andrew, Ian and Amy Property Owner

  • "We had a brilliant stay at Emerald Cottage."

It was exactly like the photographs on the website. It has been furnished as to take you back to a Victorian time but with all the latest facilities. We arrived to find the Christmas tree and fire surround aglow with fairy lights. The cottage was warm and cosy, a few treats were left in the living room and we felt right at home. Howarth Main Street is just a couple of minutes walk around the corner, they had Morris Dancers and choirs plus a firelight procession going from the bottom of the street to the top of the street. It was magical and happens every Saturday and Sunday in December running up to Christmas. This property is a credit to the owner and we would unreservedly recommend it, and Howarth, as an escape from the modern world.

Hi Gary. Thanks for the feedback and we are glad the fairy lights were appreciated, we did think they added to the atmosphere. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay we hope you return. Many thanks Ian and Amy Property Owner

  • "A stunning cottage in a prime location - 5 star decor with the bonus of not needing to use the car at all as everything is on the doorstep."

The only negative is the comfort - we appreciated the decor had to be in keeping with the property however, after a cold day hiking we couldn't 'relax' as the lounge furniture was just not suited to a 'cosy night in'. Hopefully it was just us being picky......the kitchen is beautifully fitted but again not practical for cooking main meals due to the size..we found 1 coffee pod, a couple of milk pods but no sugar 2 days in... but were grateful for the snacks - thank you!!...luckily there is an amazing pub 5 minutes walk away and the best fish and chip shop we've ever visited!! Do please take the time to read the information folders around the cottage.....after swatting up on the village history it was fascinating to then walk around and spot all of the mentioned streets. Would we go back - of course - but please change the sofa!!!!

Hi Sarah, we hope you are already planning your next trip, as the new sofa has just been ordered and will be installed this month! We really appreciate the feedback, we aimed to go with the chesterfield sofa's to provide an authentic experience, but your feedback has helped us, and we have decided to focus on comfort. Especially after a hard day's walking we understand that it is a priority So the next time you stay with us a comfy sofa will be waiting for you. We also have new house keeper so the lack of coffee pods and sugar should not happen again. Thanks for staying and all the positive feedback. Many thanks. Ian and Amy Property Owner

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
