The owners communicated everything needed from arrival to departure in first class fashion , An allocated parking space and a lift to the second floor apartment was provided . The apartment was spotlessly clean and lacked nothing . The electric heaters were easy to use and kept the apartment warm and comfortable throughout some very wintry weather . There is a large Co-op store with cash machine and car park just across the road. The apartment is located at the bottom of a steep hill with a ten minute walk up to the Main Street , Bronte taxis are located just across the car park and a bus service is round the corner. This apartment has received many positive comments which we would agree with. Some additional feedback points, is the benefit of access to 4 private EV Charging points. They are 7.4KW chargers and managed via an App. Debbie and Ben can help to arrange access. The apartment comes with its own allocated parking space so need to look for off road parking. If you wish to take a break from driving you will find that there is an excellent local bus service with bus stops at the end of the bridge. The benefit is you get a chance to view the scenery and do not have to worry about negotiating the narrow roads and then having to find a car park space at your destination. The buses can take you to Hebden Bridge in one direction and Keighley in another. Keighley has a large Bus station with buses to lots of locations. I would recommend this apartment as an excellent base for exploring Haworth, its local walks and the surrounding area.

  • "What you see in the pictures of this apartment is 100% in reality, it really is that superb."

The exterior hits you first, a listed building which sits so well in its surroundings. The security of here is very reassuring, fob activated entry to the building before reaching the apartment. We accessed the lift but there are stairs. The entrance and communal stairways are simply decorated and immaculate. On entering there's a box for dirty footwear, brilliant idea, keeps the quality flooring in excellent repair. It is superbly decorated, very modern, very elegant, we were impressed by the window dressings, shutter blinds, when closed the right way do not let the early morning light in. The open plan living/kitchen area we loved, when one is in kitchen we can still interact with each other, there's every piece of cooking equipment/utensils/crockery/cutlery you could possibly need. The huge t.v. comes complete with varied apps and subscriptions already loaded, spoiled for choice when not out exploring. Theres a utility area off the kitchen with a washer and drier, no dirty clothes to take home - awesome! theres a toilet and sink just off there, handy as our bladders seem to be in sync, no race to the loo. The bedroom is very spacious, beautifully furnished, so pleased to see a tasteful clothes rail, a wardrobe would have comprised the aesthetics. Spacious en suite, wonderful shower and an abundance of towels, thank you. On arrival there were a few treats left, including beverages, milk, biscuits and a bottle of prosecco, not expected, received with pleasure. The area itself is amazing, x2 easy distance/accessible stores (coop and spar). Just up the steep lane brings you to main street with the quirky shops and cafes, just round from this the bronte museum. If you cant manage the walk up the lane, there's a bus stop at top and bottom of the lane, the buses take you to varied destinations too, including keighley where you can access further afield places by bus or rail. Plenty of amazing walking routes to wuthering heights/bronte waterfalls etc. Of course how can we forget, its located next to Haworth rail station, on the steam railway route, famed by the railway children movie. We took a ride, loved it. We've been coming to Haworth for many years and stayed in many properties, we have found our favourite, our must have holiday rental and will be back again. The owners Debbie & Ben - great communication, at the end of phone call if you need them, congrats on being 5* hosts, much appreciated.

We did not meet the owners, but were in frequent contact with them via email and mobile phone messages. They are very helpful and kind. From my point of view, the vicinity of the Keighley Worth & Valley Railway and their loco shed was certainly an asset, while for my wife it was the village of Haworth with the shops, cafes and pubs (which I also enjoyed). By the way, there's a Co-op and a Spar within easy walking distance from the flat, and the flat's kitchen is well-equipped if you want to cook your own meals. Though the weather being typically wet and windy, we went for walks around and from Haworth - very enjoyable. And of course, we also visited the Brontë Parsonage Museum. The bed was very comfortable so we slept well. The shower was nice and maintained a consistent temperature. Great to have 2 large TVs as we often wanted to watch different programmes. It was very useful to have a lift in the building as we tend to take a lot of luggage and other items. The town centre location is very practical and it was nice to be able to watch the steam train passing at the weekend and other locomotives occasionally moving on the weekdays. The allocated parking bay is fairly close and we left the car there the whole week. We travelled on the train on the Saturday and took the Brontë Bus B3 (good value @ £4.50 return) on another day to the charming town of Hebden Bridge. There is a wide choice of places to eat in Haworth and we had excellent lunches at the Haworth Steam Brewery and the Old Sun Inn and a lovely dinner at the Old White Lion Hotel. The former 2 venues were busy and there was a pleasant atmosphere but the latter was deadly quiet (nobody else eating) – expensive wines, however. Ben spent an hour with us on the Friday evening and was very affable and helpful. We didn’t meet Debbie but her eMail communication and information were excellent and comprehensive. The weather was poor most of the week but we managed to do some good walks without getting soaked. We enjoyed our week and this was enhanced by the elegance, comfort, warmth and practicality of the apartment. Heartily recommended!

It was exactly as listed. Parking place for the apartment - car charger available if required. Property was quiet. Co-op and Spar/butchers 3 - 4mins walk away. Nearest eating place was Treehouse - place to eat or just drink, food average, worth a visit as was clean, new and did have a good feel about the place. Main street in Haworth was a 5 min walk up steep road (Safe walk). Plenty of places to eat /drink. Sunday Dinner at the Hawthorn was very good - must book in advance. The Fleece was very good for typical pub food - again you need to book. The Cloth Store restaurant was not to our liking. Indian and Chinese takeaway within 10 min walk. The steam train from Haworth 5 mins walk - we caught the steam train at Haworth and went to Keighley - stopped there for walk round town (not a lot to do) If you are looking for Lunch then Taylors on the Green is the only place - food good - nice decor inside. Haworth is a good base to travel around - Skipton/Knaresborough/Harrogate - if you like walking then Bolton Abbey is good - flat walks, anything from 1 hour to 5 hours, if the weather is good take a picnic and spend the day - book your carpark online, slightly cheaper.

Thank you Debbie for your courtesy texts - if we’re back in the area, we’d love to stay at Over the Arch again.

  • "This place rocks, and is in beautiful Haworth, when I booked this apartment I was a little worried about the inside of the building as there is no description or photos of that, but I had nothing to worry about, all of the building it completely refurbished to the same standard as the apartment, the new modern lift is also 3/4 steps from the entrance and then 3/4 steps to the apartment door it couldn’t be better, we didn’t use the stairs once."

I must add that the photos don’t do it justice, it’s far more spacious.

  • "A most enjoyable and relaxing place to stay."

A very modern and quality layout. Including washing machine for longer stays. No expense has been spared in setting the apartment up and shouts quality from the first turning of the key in the door. All possible requirements are at hand. If the weather is not favourable then the entertainment through the tv or WiFi speaker will help to while the time away. There is a lift for those not able to take the stairs. This doesn't detract from the apartment but it is a stiff climb for those that struggle with inclines. Shops and restaurants close by.

  • "Thanks for another lovely stay in Haworth."

Although the weather was poor this time the walking books are great. Really appreciated the Prosecco, chocolates and coffee. Just need a little potato pealer in kitchen or will remember to bring one next time. Beautiful apartment, we love it, we would stay the whole time until our house is finished if we could. Ate at Pave and the Hawthorne at the weekend. Had lovely G&Ts at the tap and tonic. Hunters pie shop sells the biggest pie I’ve ever seen, was delicious and gorgeous handmade chocolates from the chocolate shop. All beautiful!!

Thanks again Abigail , how did I not think of potato peeler ?! See you in March Property Owner

  • "Over the Arches is an excellent choice for a week (or longer) holiday in ‘Bronte Country’ at any time of the year."

The apartment is situated in the centre of the lovely village of Howarth just a short stroll to the cobbled main street with its village pubs, shops and cafes; also, the world-famous Parsonage Museum. The apartment is also within easy walking distance to the many moorlands walks in the area; the charming Hope Valley steam railway is just across the road which can provide nostalgic step-back-in time trips to the surrounding villages and the town of Keighley. The museums at two of the stations are excellent. Over the Arches accommodation is outstanding. The apartment is large, modern, spotlessly clean and well equipped: large walk-in shower, all the white goods you could wish for, two big smart TV’s, a smart speaker and much more. The apartment is comfortable and has been delightfully furnished and decorated by the owners who live just a few minutes away and are available to help if needed but otherwise will leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. Our visit was in January, we really enjoyed our week at Over the Arches and were sad to leave for home at the end of our stay. You become involved in the Bronte experience as you stroll through the village main street to the Parsonage Museum and become motivated to walk onto the moors in the footsteps of the Bronte sisters. It has to be said that in late January the heights can be wuthering at times but provided you are well wrapped up and with suitable footwear it is surprising how much blue sky and sunshine is around to enjoy at that time of year.

Thank you so much John & Linda for the fabulous review. We’re so pleased to hear you had a good stay & made the most of Haworth ! We would love to see you again if you ever return Property Owner

Host we’re welcoming and left us some lovely treats. Apartment was lovely and had all the facilities we needed and more. The utility room was a bonus. Lovely bathroom with a great shower. Loved seeing the steam train passing through on the tracks outside the window each day. Nice and quiet location with a cute little village just 5mins walk away. The village looked like something out of a postcode card. Experienced getting on a steam train which was something out of movie. Bradford only 20mins away with great halal restaurant options. We traveled to the Lake District which was only 1hr and 30mins away. It was definitely the ultimate countryside holiday. Best staycation yet.

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
