  • "Just 5 mins walk from Haworth Main Street, this was a brilliant and quiet location."

Clean and tidy and a huge bath to die for, the owners Andy and Jane were excellent with their communications. A complementary bottle of wine on arrival, it was the perfect cottage for our.weekend break. Parking just yards away and easy access to the Brontë walks. Good pubs in Haworth for your evening entertainment.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Rose Cottage in this stunning part of the country."

The cottage is ideal for escaping the hustle and bustle: peaceful, cosy, with lots of ways to create and take inspiration from the surrounds. There’s a wonderful piano, a guitar, art materials, games and books, and the cottage has a comforting feel from the moment you walk through the door. There are footpaths onto Penistone Hill and the moors just steps away, and the centre of Haworth is close by, with plenty of pubs, cafes, shops, and restaurants to sample. If you are a creative looking for a place to focus on your craft, a couple looking for a romantic getaway, a lover of the outdoors seeking adventure on your doorstep, Rose Cottage has it all. A special mention to for Andy and Jane. Their contact before our stay was second to none. I also highly recommend you check out Pier Pipers Pianos. As well as a chance to tinkle the ivories, they host regular music nights (think the West Yorkshire Tiny Desk Concert!) We had a wonderful evening watching the supremely talented La’l Tethera, and it’s a great way to scratch beneath the surface of this fascinating place.

Thank you very much for this Adam. We were so pleased that you surprised us by dropping in at our music night to catch La'l Tethera. It was lovely to meet you both. It sounds like you really made best use of the cottage and the village. We hope to meet you again. Property Owner

Not sure if this is a correct description but to me it was very bohemian. Can't play any musical instruments but had fun trying with the piano and guitar. The place is so cosy especially of an evening with the log fire on. Bed was cosy, bath is fantastic. Main street and the local coop are both only 10 min walk if that .Lovely touch with the welcome pack and the communication was brilliant with Andy. Would definitely return.

Thanks for the feedback Paul. So glad you enjoyed your weekend. Hope maybe you can come for a longer break next time. And thanks for leaving everything so tidy! Property Owner

It had everything we needed and was warm and cosy despite the weather. We loved the piano and guitar and not having a television to distract us! The location was perfect for us to visit local family. We loved Haworth which we were unfamiliar with and really hope we can visit again to explore more of the area. We really felt we had been on holiday although it was only a long weekend! Thank you!

Thank you Simon. We're so glad you had a good weekend. I hope you can come for longer sometime. We are constantly improving the cottage so it will have changed next time you come. We have some ideas! Thanks again for the feedback Property Owner

!! We had the most amazing stay at rose cottage with everything we could of asked for, so peaceful relaxing and clean. You really couldn’t ask for anymore, tea and coffee ready for your arrival even a bottle of fizz !! The hairdryer was a lifesaver as I forgot mine. We sat relaxing in front of the toasty log burner which had everything you needed to get going so easily too. Upstairs the most gorgeous vintage bath which was the perfect touch. Haworth has so much to offer and see it’s just beautiful, we can’t wait to visit again and will definitely be coming back to rose cottage .

That's lovely Becky. So glad you had a good short break! Thanks for leaving the cottage so clean and for the email when you got home. I hope you can come for a longer stay sometime. Haworth has plenty to do and see. All the best. Andy Property Owner

  • "Cottage was quirky with alot of nice features."

Log fire and bath were great . Could be cleaner , floor boards in places were dirty and there were cobwebs on some lighting also found a snail in the bedroom . The biggest disappointment was the bed we found it very uncomfortable, unfortunately we didnt get much sleep , tired with backache all the time we were there .

Hi Sandra Thanks for this feedback and for the very nice comments you left in the guest book. We always try to address any issues, but I'm not sure what we can do about the snail! The floorboards in the bathroom were recycled and have natural staining (not dirt). We chose an orthopaedic mattress for the bed as they are supposed to be the best for back-ache. Sorry it didn't suit you. We have thought about it and will try a memory foam mattress topper for those who prefer a soft mattress. I'm afraid it is just not possible to please everyone. If you can send us a message about why you have marked us down on all four categories that will help us improve our service to future guests. UPDATE: We have added a memory foam topper - no complaint from current guest - thanks for helping us to improve. Property Owner

  • "Nice location."

Nice property. Functional. Nice bathroom. However we struggled at first to get the central heating system to work properly. Quite a cold property. More needs to be said about the path leading up to the house as it is old and uneven. House needs better curtains especially to combat draughty windows. Not the most comfortable bed or pillows. Garden is misleading especially from the photos and needs a tidy up. Overall a nice house but just needs the owner to sit down inside and see how it looks and works and then maybe tweek a few things.

Thank you for the suggestions The central heating boiler is brand new and we allow guests to control the temperature and timings themselves to suit their needs. Instructions are in the welcome pack and the welcome email. After your difficulties we will consider leaving them out near the controls. We also provide free logs for the wood-burner for your stay. The garden was under restoration when you visited - we are constantly improving it. The gardener had left it as tidy as possible but was part-way through a job. We also have plans to restore the path and we are waiting for contractors to start work. The condition of the path is made very clear in our welcome email, which you told me you didn't read. We spent a week at the cottage recently as you suggest - we think it's great! Property Owner

  • "The property was charming but not practical it took 45 minutes to work out how to switch the oven on and there wasn’t anything good enough to wash the dishes with."

Also no freezer for ice or food. Log burner was a nightmare to clean ash out of and had to go and buy an iron to press some clothes. 600 pound for a week and only sleeps 2 !! Also the Indian sheet at the top of the landing was just there to hide the wallpaper pealing from behind

Our first negative feedback! Thanks for calling the cottage charming though - we try hard. Thanks too for the opportunity to respond and hopefully to improve in future. The cooker is new as is the entire kitchen. The instruction manual is in the Welcome Pack. Sorry you couldn't work out how to use the controls. We don't have room for a dishwasher in our tiny space but there is always hot water and washing facilities. We avoid plastic utensils and use eco-soap - it's part of our overall ethos, this will not be changing. We were also surprised that the new fridge did not have an ice-box when it arrived but we have no room for a separate freezer, we will change this when replacing the fridge. The wood-burner should not be cleaned out, a bed of ash is beneficial - this too is stated in our Welcome Pack. We set a fire for first use and provide lighters kindling and logs free of charge. In two years nobody had ever asked for an iron but there is one now following your suggestion. Many new items have been added following guests' suggestions and we welcome being able to evolve. We have spent a lot of money and effort on decorating and were disappointed that the foil-backed paper on the landing didn't work as promised. We have booked a contractor to insulate and re-render the entire gable wall. We thought the wall hanging was a nice temporary solution! We restored a neglected building and are still investing in it to preserve it for future generations and of course make it it comfortable for guests. Finally the price - Sykes set the price and we pay them a commission and VAT. The price is market rates for the area. You paid £486 not £600. As stated in the property description: it sleeps two - there were two of you. You marked us down on all categories: I will check the property description again to make sure it is accurate, the cottage is thoroughly cleaned before each guest arrives (still to Covid standards). We hope you enjoyed the village and the area Property Owner

The owners, Jane and Andy, could not have been more helpful - they made it a most perfect stay for us. Rose Cottage is a beautifully calming cottage to stay in; small, but wonderfully set out, with neighbours who are friendly and a garden that is stunning. (I highly recommend having a good look through the garden, as there are lots and lots of subtle, beautiful flowers, herbs, and colours to inject). There’s also a finely-tuned piano and guitar within the cottage, alongside a wood-burning fire and a cosy sofa to relax. It’s heavenly. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rose Cottage. However, a small word of warning - the bath: you will not want to get out of it. It is stunning and perfect. You’ve been warned.

Warm and comfortable: Jane's artwork and Rita's stained glass front door gave a fantastic ambience that really made us feel at home. Despite being a back-to-back, sound insulation is very good so could barely hear any noise from neighbours, those of whom we met were very friendly. So I was able to play the piano and accordion provided without disturbing anyone. No TV - no problem: it was great to escape from the rest of the world. Haworth has plenty of eateries, some of which we patronised on several evenings, but the well-equipped kitchen was good for eating in.

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
