“Sage Cottage is an exceptional cottage.”

Extremely comfortable, very well equipped, homely, stylish and very welcoming.

Extremely comfortable, very well equipped, homely, stylish and very welcoming. Rooms were spacious and very well furnished. It was a joy returning there after a day exploring different areas of Yorkshire and needing to recharge for the following day. Would highly recommend for comfort, cleanliness, location, etc.

The property

Tucked away in the quaint village of Haworth, West Yorkshire, is this splendid terrace house, Sage Cottage.

Set over two floors and sleeping up to four guests, Sage Cottage is the perfect pet-friendly base for exploring the vast Yorkshire countryside with your loved ones, with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Skipton Castle.

Be welcomed into the homely sitting room, where you can look forward to relaxing in front of your favourite film with a glass of wine as the woodburning stove crackles nearby.

Conjure up tasty home-cooked meals in the well-equipped kitchen, with handy washing machine and dishwasher, and tuck into your well-deserved meal around the dining room table.

As your eyes grow heavy, climb the stairs to the first floor where you will discover two light and airy bedrooms, a super king-size and a small double.

Switch off from the world with a bubble-filled soak in the bath, before joining your guests in the small courtyard for an alfresco breakfast.

Get to know your local surroundings with a leisurely walk in to the village, where you can learn more about the famous Bronte sisters who once lived in Haworth at the Bronte Parsonage Museum, where you can expect to see manuscripts, personal items and letters , a literary buffs dream!

Near to the museum is the historical landmark of Anne’s Stone, the final stone in the Bronte Stones Project, which commemorates each Bronte sister.

See the sights a little differently with a trip to Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, which has its own museum which you can tour and offers rides on vintage steam locomotives.

Just a short drive away is the market town of Hebden Bridge, where you can enjoy scenic walks in Calder Holmes Park, a game of golf at the excellent Mount Skip Hebden Bridge Golf Club or take in the views at Hardcastle Crags, with its lush woodland and 15 miles of paths.

If you can tear yourself away, venture to Skipton, home to a remarkable medieval castle with a dudgeon.

About the location

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
