  • "Had lovely stay, location was excellent for our requirements almost at top of main street."

Instructions to find were simple and accurate and was comfy little cottage. If your bad with knees the steep steps as with lot of properties in this area may need consideration. We had all we needed the only addition I would suggest would be addition of small microwave overall had great stay and most likely to book again

  • "Excellent location, lovely clean cottage."

On the small side but ideal for a short break for 2 people and dog. We couldnt get any regular tv channels but this didnt bother us too much as we could still access bbciplayer, netflix etc, and we spent most of our time out walking and visiting the local shops and pubs. Wouldnt recommend to anyone with mobility problems as stairs a bit awkward and bed very low, though we found it very comfortable. Overall a very nice stay. Thank you.

  • "Everything looked clean and comfortable on arrival, and vastly different to when my in-laws owned the old cottage in the 1980s."

Definitely warmer and not a hint of damp! The bottle of fizz and card was a nice touch, as we were celebrating a landmark. But little niggles grew as the days and nights went on, from frustrations with working the smart TV, to the creaking bed and dripping rain in the attic room, and too many housekeeping oversights that could have been avoided with more time and attention. It seems previous guests' feedback hadn't been followed up, so just as well we'd come prepared with firewood and matches, a kitchen basics. In fairness, Dave was quick to respond and called round after one oversight too many, apologising and acknowledging the shortcomings. So hopefully, if he and his cleaner can put themselves in the shoes of guests and anticipate what would make them happy, then there's the opportunity for this to be a lovely little get-away cottage for repeat bookings.

Many thanks for your feedback. As previously stated we have had some issues with firewood supplies this year but this is now addressed and we shall ensure there are enough supplies ahead of autumn and winter. The bed in the attic needed some tightening but this has been addressed. I’m sorry about the leak in the roof - which happened during a huge storm. However… I’ve been assured before (at time of buying) and since by a local roofer that the roof is sound and that this was due to water being blown up and beneath the tiles. Regrettable but extremely rare and unfortunately unavoidable. The leak itself was very small and in the corner of the bedroom. There is certainly not an ongoing issue here! The smart tv is a top of the range Samsung TV bought specifically as Samsung is known for its user friendly interface… I will leave additional instructions out to help with this. Following a couple of similar pieces of feedback we have now transitioned over to a new cleaner to ensure these issues don’t repeat. We really appreciate your feedback Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week in 9 little street."

It is the perfect location to explore Haworth and surrounding areas. Beautiful walks can be accessed from the door step and quaint shops and bars a minutes walk away. We came prepared due to reading other reviews and brought the basics with us, washing up sponges, soap etc. Would have been nice to have a starter kit for one night for the fire as all the local shops had sold out of wood so needed to travel into Keighley the next day, even then we struggled to find some. Finally found some at B&M. The heating was on low when we arrived so that first night was a bit cold with it being an older property and no supplies for a fire. That being said we cannot wait to return and spend more time in beautiful Haworth!

Many thanks for your review. This year we’ve had issues with firewood supply as there have been serious shortages. This has now been addressed. Apologies for this. General provisions (sponges etc) should always be provided… we now have a new team in place to ensure this following similar reports in previous months. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage in a great location."

Just a short walk to the high street with local shops and pubs that serve great food. We had a great weekend but our only disappointment was the fact there was no wood for the fire. A real fire was one of the reasons we booked the cottage. This was our first sykes cottage that hadn't provided it and wasn't in the description to bring our own! Luckily we got some from the local co op.

Many thanks for your review. Yes this year we’ve had issues with firewood supply as there have been serious shortages. This has now been addressed and we will ensure we have enough stores in place to last the winter! Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at this cosy cottage."

Great location for Haworth main street which has some lovely pubs and shops on its doorstep. Parking was okay but could be a problem as there's only a few spaces. The cottage was comfortable and warm with a comfy large bed. It's dog friendly but unfortunately doesn't have a fenced garden. We would definitely book it again as it was in a quiet spot and we felt at home.

Many thanks for for feedback. Private parking is limited in Haworth but the property does have parking available just outside most of the time - although it is first come first serve. We do have a primary school nearby and a rush of parked traffic around 3pm (check in time!) but this subsides quickly afterwards. Thank you for your review! Property Owner

  • "A bit disappointed to be honest this was the first property I’ve ever rented that had no toilet tissue, no coffee or tea bags at all , the information said it had a wood burner but not any wood or fire lighters just a box of matches!"

Certainly not the best value . When we arrived we were tired after our journey and found the property very cold indeed with the top bedroom radiator off and the vacuum cleaner full of dirt the only good point was the location !

We apology’s for these oversights and have now changed our changeover team following several similar reports. Thanks so much for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "The cottage did not disappoint and was in a great location, only a short walk from the main street and with so many great walks on the doorstep."

My only criticism was that it lacked items which you generally find when renting holiday accommodation especially in covid times e.g. washing up liquid, bin bags etc

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
