Having a designated parking space is also a big bonus when staying in Haworth. A lovely welcome pack was provided by the owners, as well as generous supplies of absolutely anything you might need - the most we have ever found in any holiday cottage we have ever stayed in! A welcome card from the owners with an emergency contact number was another sign of that extra care and commitment. Highly recommended!

  • "Clare is an excellent host and I highly recommend The Changegate Cottage."

It is very clean and cozy, making the experience a positively memorable one. The bed was comfortable and we slept without any issues. I love cooking and I came to a fully equipped kitchen to enjoy my hobby. The little back garden is perfect for a small BBQ; sadly it was too windy during our stay. The cottage is located within walking distance to the varied town centre’s Main Street, with a lovely chippy [mushy pea fritters are morish] , coffee shops and a variety of pubs that offer good food. Our favourite was the vegan curry at the Old White Lion. The Kings Arms offers the Brontë ales. The Brontë Parsonage is just behind St Michael’s church. Both are highly recommended for their historic value. From the Main Street, take Blunt St, which leads to the Worth Valley Steam Train. A round trip is an excellent way to see the Railway Children Stations and at £14 per person it support a local cause. Wave of Nostalgia book shop is full of book advice and friendly staff. Cobbles and Clay coffee shop cakes and coffee had us going back for more. The Peningstone Hill offers a good view for those who like walking. It is also a good starting point en [hiking] route to the Brontë Waterfalls, Top Withins and Thrushcross Grange [Ponden Hall]. Clare very caring and left us plant milk, plant butter, posh crisps and apples to help us settle in. I highly recommend Clare’s Cottage and we are planning to return again.

Spotlessly clean and we'll equipped. A lovely welcome pack too. Haworth itself is magical. Just as it woukd have been in Bronte times. However I would never book with Sykes again. Always try to deal with the owner directly. As soon as you book with them you are liable to a third of the price of your holiday even if the property is re-booked after you cancel. They have kept £251 oif our money for no good reason. Sykes unhappy customer site now have 7.1k members.!!! Uncaring company.

! Fully equipped, so no need to stress about the mundane things to take with you. ( we had taken teatowels, matches, towels - everything bar the kitchen sink to be honest!!) The cottage was warm and welcoming with a lovely card to welcome us, fresh flowers, and a great welcome hamper including gifts for our 4 legged friends too. The area was lovely and quiet, and walking the dogs at 5:45am we could hear the local owls which was a bonus. We haven't been to Haworth for years although we live near, and it was so nice to go back, and we won't leave it for so long next time. Technically we were'nt on holiday as our house was being worked on and we needed to move out, but it felt like a mini holiday even though we were still commuting to work! Can't recommend this cottage highly enough, if you're looking for comfort and a beautifully quiet location, then this is ideal. A real home from home! Thank you so much!!

  • "Our initial booking was cancelled very last minute because of an electrical problem with the property."

Fair enough, but trying to get hold of anybody to talk to at Sykes took well over half an hour on hold each time. The people I did speak to were helpful, and transferred our booking to another property, but it did take Sykes a good two weeks to refund the difference in price, which I thought was unfair, particularly given the time and stress trying to change the booking. (Their first calculation re the difference in cost was wrong, significantly in their favour! Still cost me over half an hour on hold to get through to them to rectify the problem though.) Given how long it takes to get through on the phone, it would have been good to have an email address clearly available on the website.

We were left milk and chocolate biscuits and other useful provisions in the cupboards for cleaning and Tea and Coffee etc. The surrounding area was quiet and we had very easy access to the facilities in Haworth just 2 mins walk to Haworth Steam Brewery for an evening meal or just 5 mins walk to The Fleece, both with very good food and drinks. There is a Spar Supermarket in Mill Hey a short ride away if you don't want to walk back up the hill. Having a designated parking space on site was a definite bonus, we walked everyday straight from the cottage across the moors loving the area and luckily the weather was good to us. The best and longest walk was to Bronte Waterfalls and further on to Top Withens, along a part of the Pennine Way, then back on the other side of the Reservoir which then we went back up on the Moors to Haworth, the scenery is magnificent.

The holiday home is cosy but doesn't feel cramped, loads of room for the 4 of us plus dog. It's spotlessly clean and everything is provided. The location is fantastic only a couple of minutes walk to the top of Main Street, although you wouldn't know it - it's so quiet once you are inside. Parking space for 1 car is a bonus but we were told to speak to the attendant in the public car park opposite for our other cars and he would sort something out - he did £10 to park all week. We were left a basket full of provisions for our stay including milk, bread, Christmas chocolate yule log, tea & coffee - even a toy for the dog. Very clean and perfectly set up. Simple, thoughtful surprises like tea bags in the caddy and milk and fruit juice in the fridge were lovely. The welcome basket included a toy for "G" our border terrier which was wonderful. If we had any concern at all it was the sofas. In common with many other cottages/apartments we have rented, they looked great but were not all that comfortable. We stayed in on one of the nights and would have preferred something a little more 'suggly' with higher backs and softer cushions. This is not to complain, we had a great time and were more than happy with everything else about the cottage. in fact, if we could bring two dogs we would definitely book again next year.

About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
