  • "Absolutely lovely little cottage."

Felt bigger than it looks in the pictures. Living room super cosy and comfortable. Location is a great base for walks in the Dales and within easy drive of other villages. Parking was good and super easy to navigate. Would definitely recommend.

  • "Everything ran very smoothly, booking process was straightforward and communication and directions excellent."

The detailing for the property was accurate and we were delighted with the decoration, comfort and amenities. The Yorkshire Parkin was most welcome on arrival. A cool sanctuary during the hottest week this year. This lovely cottage is an excellent base to explore the surrounding area, either on foot with walks straight from the door, or further afield by car. The Bluebell pub in the village is excellent for food, but popular so worth booking a table. If you are looking for shady walks with the dog, Parcevall Hall Gardens and Skipton Castle woods are both worth a visit. We thoroughly recommend this cottage and would definitely return in the future.

  • "A lovely, homely cottage in an excellent location."

Just at the top of the delightful village of Kettlewell, a short walk from the shop and pubs. Plenty of beautiful walks right from the cottage door, really peaceful location, very friendly neighbours and a parking space as well! What more do you need for a delightful, relaxing holiday. Would definitely love to return!

  • "We loved the house, it was so homely, and had everything we needed."

Thank you for the lovely welcome pack! We know the village well and it is a great place to stay, at the top of the village next to the stream, near the shop. We will definitely book the cottage again next time we visit, we loved it. Thank you for such a relaxing few days and great communication.

  • "One issue we had: all the beds had 13 Tog quilts on them with no other bedding that we could find - a bit warm for summer!"

Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention. This hasn't been an issue before - probably because Yorkshire summers are not typically as balmy as this one has been! - but we will ensure this is put right immediately for the benefit of future guests. We are glad that otherwise you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was a lovely place to stay."

Well placed in the Dales to access a wide range of beautiful places. Woodburner made the cottage cosy and warm but the heating was very efficient too. The key "little" things which show attention to detail was the comfortable bed and bed linen; maps and walking books; some supplies of basics such as salt and pepper, tea and coffee plus more; a gift of Parkin which was lovely. This would go on our list as one of our favourite cottages and Kettlewell as a lovely place to be.

  • "Very good location away from roads."

All rooms are a very good size with comfortable beds and lovely bed linen. Excellent shower and big kitchen table to sit round. Excellent pub in Starbotton serving home made food at good price.

  • "Highly recommended."

An excellent holiday cottage. The lounge was big enough to fit five in easily but still felt cosy. When we needed privacy, we could go and sit in the hall room, kitchen or the beautiful patio. The kitchen had everything that was needed, and the fittings were all high quality. The cottage had lovely views from its location on the edge of the village. There were plenty of good walks that you could start from the front door without needing to drive anywhere. It was my first visit to this part of the Dales, and I would not hesitate to return. Kettlewell was a pleasant village. The local shop sold all the essentials, and there were a choice of dog-friendly restaurants or tea-rooms if we wanted to eat out together.

  • "We had an awful Friday journey up to Yorkshire, rain, holdups, roads closed you name it."

A 5 hour journey took 10! But the minute we arrived it didn't matter, the cottage was absolutely , beautiful in the most perfect setting. Everything you could wish for was there, lovely walks from the doorstep, stunning scenery all around and set in a unique area within the village so handy for a shop and 3 pubs! Weather was typical British summer but it didn't stop us exploring and would love to go back even our dog agrees! If you're looking for somewhere quiet to get away and relax you couldn't pick a better spot.

  • "I found all the arrangements for the holiday very satisfactory, and the cottage itself was excellent."

All appliances etc worked perfectly and there was a good supply of logs for the woodburner. Completely peaceful---never heard a sound from any of the nearby properties. Only problem I found was that although the parking space was easy enough to get into on arrival, it was very awkward to get out of, involving reversing in very confined spaces.

About the location

KETTLEWELL

Grassington 7 miles; Skipton 14 miles.

Nestling at the foot of Great Whernside, near the head of Upper Wharfedale, this idyllic village makes the perfect place from which to explore the wonderful scenery and pretty villages of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is National Trust owned - an indication of the beauty of its classic countryside, with dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valley side woodland. Undoubtedly, this is one of the best walking and mountain biking areas in the Dales, with The Dales Way passing nearby. The village itself lying on the banks of the River Wharfe is a real delight with traditional built stone cottages, three pubs, a Post Office, speciality shops and a hotel. No surprise that the hit movie Calendar Girls was filmed here and in other locations throughout the area. An excellent base for enjoying the famous Dales, historic market towns, caves and waterfalls of this magical area.
