  • "Applecroft is one of the nicest properties we have ever stayed in."

    ..and we have stayed in a lot! The kitchen was a brilliant size and there were plenty of empty cupboards to store food in, something often bizarrely lacking in holiday properties. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The owners had thought of everything. We would definitely stay here again in the future. The heating was controlled by the hive system via a tablet, this is something the older members of our party would have struggled to operate alone. Our only other suggestion would be the provision of some plastic plates, bowls and cups for little ones to use and maybe the option of a wipe clean table cloth for those with messy children.

  • "One of the best properties we have stayed in during our 25+ years of being a Sykes customer."

    Property was very well equipped, extremely clean and in very good order - perfect for a family of five Arrival pack had lots of personal touches (fresh flowers; local cakes). Really good location in a traditional Yorkshire village - ideal for exploring Bronte country and southern parts of the Dales- local shop only a 5 minute walk away.

    Close to Bronte Parsonage in Haworth, Hebden Bridge little market town worth a visit. Shibden Hall (Gentleman Jack) just filmed second series. Skipton about an hour away. Would advise booking popular visitor attractions in advance. Plenty of places to visit . Applecroft was a fantastic house with ample parking for two cars on the drive. Special little touches added by the owners Roses, wine, hand made Yorkshire Rascal biscuits and more. Thank you Mike and Soo

  • "We had a very comfortable stay at Applecroft."

    We loved the spacious modern kitchen and appreciated the welcoming flowers and delicious local cookies. The sitting room is equally spacious and comfortable. We especially enjoyed getting Alexa to play us mood music while cooking in the evenings. The two double bedrooms are comfortable with an excellent provision of wardrobes etc. Be aware that the two single bedrooms are quite small and simply furnished. There is a good sized driveway and a large garage, making parking easy. However, outside sitting space is rather limited, although we ate in the little courtyard area on several occasions. To make the best of the views, take a 10 minute walk up the hill to The Lamb (not the Bay Horse at the top of the road, which is a town pub). The Lamb is a small pub with a glorious outlook across the local reservoir. Oxenhope has the advantage of being close to Howarth: although this does mean that there is some tourist traffic during the day, it is quiet at night.

    It was immaculately clean, the facilities were completely up to date and all made for an extremely comfortable stay. The village was lovely and the 2 mile walk along the river to Haworth was enjoyed many times. The owners were really helpful and gave lots of information. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and hope to return very soon.

About the location


Haworth 2 miles; Hebden Bridge 6 miles; Skipton 14 miles.

The small village of Oxenhope lies amid wonderful scenery, and offers the chance to take advantage of the multitude of walks in the area. The village, with its shops, churches and pubs, is home to the terminus for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, which runs on a regular basis to Haworth and on down to Keighley. The area was made famous by the Bronte sisters, and the outstanding countryside was famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. The area abounds with popular places to visit; the cobbled streets of Haworth, the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail. The market town of Skipton, known as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds.
