  • "Simply superb holiday cottage located in a surprisingly quiet corner of the village."

Accomodation spotlessly clean with all you require for a break from the norm (although another baking tray would be helpful for some) Heating controllable and certainly adequate for us. If you are a keen walker - there is a fantastic array of footpaths directly from the door. We tried as many as we could fit in - visit every scrap of open access and you won't be disappointed - embrace the mud though as it is everywhere in March. Parking - not suitable for anything bigger than a SWB VW Transporter. It was a tight fit and this wasn't an issue as our van didn't need to move all week. Pubs - if you are a fan of decent beer look no further than the excellent Bay Horse in the village. We tried a few and this was the best by far. A real locals pub - no food that we witnessed on our several visits there. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. The baking tray is noted and on its way. If you ever visit again we have recently acquired a bigger parking space which is about 30 yds from the cottage, a little walk I know but handy if you have a large vehicle. I will let Sykes know Property Owner

  • "A beautifully renovated and well appointed cottage in a secluded part of the village."

Everything you need for a great stay including a week’s supply of firewood, most generous! Amazing views from the cottage, especially when covered in snow and great walks on the doorstep too. An easy walk to Haworth which is very quaint with lovely shops and pubs. Great meals and a friendly welcome at The Fleece. Can’t fault Box Tree Cottage , but can’t believe The Lamb and The Dog and Gun do not allow dogs especially as this is perfect dog walking country . Friendly welcome at The Bay Horse in the village which does music and quiz nights. A great stay all round . Thank you Jenny

Thank you for your lovely feedback. I am so glad you had a good break and that Box Tree was cosy and warm. I have taken so many photos of the snow covered hills which are always are joy to see. Hope to see you again soon! Property Owner

The hosts prepared the cottage for Christmas which was fabulous. Thank you for the Christmas hamper too. Cooking Christmas dinner was made easy with the well equipped kitchen. Such a cosy cottage for spending Christmas was our relatives. We will back in the Spring/Summer when hopefully we can enjoy the surroundings too.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback. It really makes a difference and it’s always good to know that we’re doing it right. Happy New Year Property Owner

Thank you so much for your review. If you ever visit again we have now organised a bigger parking spot almost opposite Box Tree for larger cars. Property Owner

  • "Our second stay at this lovely property, Box Cottage is set in the perfect location of Oxenhope, with views of the hills from bedroom windows."

In good weather, we used the patio table at the front. (There is no back garden). Excellent dining pub up on the moor a 5 minute drive away, or you can walk to another for a drink just around the corner. 7 mile drive to Hebden Bridge or only 2 to Haworth, the cottage couldn't be better placed in this area. A great local shop just a 10 minute walk away (quite a steep hill on return) or slightly further to see the vintage railway station. At the cottage itself, the beds and bedlinen are superbly comfortable with a real luxury feel. Two bathrooms are a bonus. Wifi was reliable. TV adequate. Sofa not particularly comfortable but armchairs are fine. Our only slight quibble this time was that we needed to quickly buy £10 worth of basic household items for the kitchen as they weren't anywhere to be found, but this may have been an oversight, as it hadn't happened on our previous trip. The local shop has everything you might need, plus a great fresh bakery. We hope to return.

Thank you so much for your informative feedback. Please accept my apologies as of course there should be basic household items in the property. I have spoken to the cleaning company about this and I will reimburse you for your inconvenience. I look forward to welcoming you again to Box Tree at some time in the future. Kind regards, Martine Property Owner

Everything we needed was provided. It's in such a beautiful location and the layout is brilliant for 2 couples with the bedrooms and bathrooms separated by the stairs. It was an extremely enjoyable holiday.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. The breadboard should be in the pan cupboard but I will double check. Glad you had a good holiday! Box Tree Cottage is a perfect place to chill Property Owner

Beautiful views from the bedroom, ideally situated for everywhere we wanted to visit, in fact we visited 12 different places within the week we were there! All within a 10 mile radius. We ate at The Dog and Gun, excellent Lamb Henry and The Robin Hood Inn, also excellent food . A very welcome bottle of wine in the fridge to welcome us was a nice touch. Parking the car could be tricky for larger vehicles, however we managed with a Ford Focus OK Would definitely recommend this cottage

Great pub dog and gun a short drive away lovely food, warm ambience and super staff. Small downside was parking, there is a space but it’s tight although we do have a big car. Perhaps milk could be left in the fridge rather than wine but that’s our preference.

Box Tree was the cleanest and most comfotable. The interior designs were modern but the historic also came out in the fabric ofthe building. The silence from the roadsand fields around was stunning. Just right for relaxation and recuperation . The generous spirit o the owners exuded through the whole building...from the bottle of wine in the fridge to the umbrella at the door . Loved our stay.

Well presented clean heating was left on really lovely. Loo seats need repairing very wobbly No enclosed garden this property allows dogs it’s not dog friendly. Front garden can’t let you dog out and no back garden at all. Sykes state …. No food to be left, nothing in the dishwasher or fridge so we arrived and all 3 had something in? Disappointing given the long list of what you must do when your there and before you leave. Sadly we had to leave early but highly recommended just don’t take a dog it will ruin your holiday

Thank you for your useful feedback. In response the loo seat has been tightened. During January 2022 chicken wire is being installed along the bottom rungs of the outer fencing to make the front and back outside space more secure for dogs. The wine in the fridge and the Christmas food hamper were left for you as a complementary gift for the festive season Sykes suggest a 'to do' list on leaving to try and minimalise any covid impact but it's not set in stone as we clean thoroughly on check out. However, thank you for leaving everything clean and tidy. Property Owner

The neighbours are very friendly and the food at the local pubs is very good. About the location

OXENHOPE

Haworth 2 miles; Hebden Bridge 6 miles; Skipton 14 miles.

The small village of Oxenhope lies amid wonderful scenery, and offers the chance to take advantage of the multitude of walks in the area. The village, with its shops, churches and pubs, is home to the terminus for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, which runs on a regular basis to Haworth and on down to Keighley. The market town of Skipton, known as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds.
