“The Cottage was in the perfect place, surrounded by a beautiful landscape, the cottage is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy, every comfort of home, spacious, comfortable beds a great kitchen for dining in which we did often, it made a great base for visiting local landmarks and countryside walks.”
Also the first thing you noticed in the cottage is how fresh and clean everything was. We will be booking again hopefully. Stan and Deborah.
Also the first thing you noticed in the cottage is how fresh and clean everything was. We will be booking again hopefully. Stan and Deborah.- Mr Townsend, September 2020
“Apple tree cottage was absolutely superb.”
It was spotlessly clean and super comfortable. It has everything we needed for a fantastic stay and couldn't fault anything. Even all the small little things were thought of and we will definitely visit again.- Mrs Hill, September 2020
“Gorgeous cottage, excellent condition, couldn't have asked for more, beautiful location would like to return again someday.”
Only problem was the garden was not closed off so we could not let the dog off to roam due to access to the road at both ends of the cottage. The only issue we had was that the toilet got blocked on the last day so we reported it to the owner.- Mrs Fallows, September 2020
Many thanks for your feedback. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Apple House Cottage. The property is not advertised with an enclosed garden but I hope your dogs were still able to enjoy some supervised time. Regarding the blocked toilet, this was not apparent prior to your arrival, a plumber was called at our expense and resolved prior to the next booking. Sykes owner relations
“We had a very comfortable stay at Apple cottage.”
The pictures did not do the property justice (a real home from home). The cottage is in a beautiful location. The owners could not have been more helpful. We hope to return.- Mr Wills, September 2020
“Lovely stay in Apple House Cottage!”
The cottage was really well appointed & spotlessly clean. Wonderful view across the valley to the Mill & plenty of walks on your door step. It was a pleasure to return to each evening after a day out & about. We will definitely plan another visit to this lovely home from home.- Mr & Mrs Banks, September 2020
“Perfect location, gorgeous views of the hills, close to town centre.”- Mr De Forest, August 2020
“Beautiful location and fantastic property- immaculately presented with lovely touches such as the home made jam and fresh eggs left to welcome us.”
Would love to come back!- Mrs Higgins, August 2020
“Perfect cottage, in a beautiful setting, with amazing views from all windows.”
Incredibly well equipped, light spacious kitchen. Really appreciated the welcome bottle of wine, milk, jam, biscuits. Great log burner & supply of logs, underfloor heating & constant supply of hot water. Local pub a hidden gem & so friendly.- Mr Thompson, December 2019
“The cottage and views were better than the photos!”
Basic supplies including tea and coffee, fresh milk, a bonus bottle of wine and chocolate was appreciated. The log fire was a treat, quality beds and linen. Spectacular views and walks, fab traditional village pub from 1634 is just down the road with friendly publican and locals. An outstanding choice for us to experience life in a quaint English village.- Mr Williams, November 2019
“I'm a huge fan of nice, 5 star hotels, so when my husband booked a cottage, I wasn't that thrilled, but as we were in Yorkshire to see family, having our own space made sense.”
This was (almost) a new experience for us, as this was only the second time we stayed in a cottage. Well, I've got to say that this one was vastly superior to our last experience, as there was not even a whiff of compromise this time. To start, the place was completely spotless. All the spaces beautifully set out and user friendly (pods for the coffee maker, dishwasher tabs, etc... ). The log burner, books and dvds were a particularly nice touch, and the views were amazing! What also was very much appreciated was the eggs, milk, wine, not to mention the home made jam (which was delicious), which was left for us, this felt less like a 'let' and more like a serviced apartment with cute, usable garden space and a fab, gorgeous kitchen. WOW. In the interests of fairness, the house is on a steep hill and the road is quite narrow. To get to the front door, you can either walk up the stone steps, or walk along infront ofthe other house's front doors on the stone walkway. My husband is disabled, so can only walk short distances, but this lovely house was well worth the effort, and as I've already said, the views were amazing!I Thank you Mary, we WILL be staying again, you really roll out the red carpet for your guests.- Mr Wadham, September 2019
“Had a lovely stay at apple House cottage .”
It exceeded my expectations .it is very clean homely and comfortable and is nicely decorated . The kitchen extension is especially nice and is light and airy . The views are great from the windows .it has underfloor heating to keep it cosy and a nice little garden patio area. It’s a great location to not far from Hebden bridge and Skipton and has some nice walks round the village. Owners are also very attentive and brought us fresh milk on our first day and gave us info on places to go and they leave some nice little touches. I would definitely recommend this cottage and will definitely stay here again. :)- Miss Murton, September 2019
“A lovely cottage, spotlessly clean, nicely furnished with a lovely bright kitchen and a small garden to sit out in.”
The only downside is that the internet is painfully slow - it was like going back to the 90's! Made doing anything online really painful so if you need to use the internet, be aware. If they fixed the internet I'd be back here again, but sadly I do need to access internet quite a lot, so I would not return for this reason and this reason alone.- Mr Anthony, July 2019
Thank you for your comments, it is great to hear you enjoyed the property, furnishings and garden area. In relation to the WIFI, the owners have looked in to this and confirmed there are no issues, there have been no previous complaints on the WIFI. If guests do have any issues we ask them to contact us during their stay so we can look in to the issue and provide a fix if required. Thanks Again, Sykes Cottages. Sykes owner relations
“This is a lovely part of the world which we greatly enjoyed.”
The owners could not have been more helpful in providing local information and answering any questions we had. I would recommend this house for a great place to stay.- Mrs Milligan, June 2019
“Lovely holiday, although we had stayed at the cottage last year everything was up to a good standard.”
Owner left eggs, wine, milk and chocolates for our stay. Very comfortable cottage convenient for lots of walks and visits to Hebden Bridge. Our Bearded Collie really enjoyed his long walks along the canal and across the moors and his morning walk down to the village.- Mrs Clarke, June 2019
“Apple House Cottage is a fantastic place to stay.”
...we cannot recommend it highly enough. It's so comfortable - as soon as you arrive you feel welcomed by all the little touches that the owners have thought to provide. We really liked the bench placed outside the front door which gets the afternoon sun and where you can relax and look at the view. The kitchen is particularly lovely - light and airy and so well stocked with everything you might need. The bed was SO comfortable and the best thing was the view from the bed...over the green valley with cows in a field, across to the other distant side of the valley. So much light and sky too. It was very easy to park our car...in fact everything about this holiday was easy and relaxing. One of our best. The area is beautiful and offers loads of things to do and see. The owner came to meet us on the second day and kindly told us about places to go in the local area. Bob's Tea Rooms - only open at weekends - is a must.- Mrs Hudson, April 2019
“This is a lovely holiday cottage.”
Situated in a small village off the beaten track but with easy access to towns and cities. Good walking from the house and great views too. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable - light and airy too which makes such a difference. On street parking but we always found a space. Be careful with young children on this road as it is narrow and cars pass fairly frequently. The host, Mary, was thoughtful and helpful throughout. I would highly recommend her and her cottage for a stay in Yorkshire.- Mr Brind, April 2019
“Fabulous cottage, very nicely decorated and furnished.”
The only only cottage we've ever stayed where you could just rock up without having brought daily essentials and not worry. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, toilet roll, wine, tomato sauce, even poo bags! Every kitchen utensil you'd ever need. Great location and lovely, helpful host.- Mr Davidson, February 2019
“This is a top class cottage in a ruggedly beautiful part of the world.”- Mr Murgatroyd, July 2018
.warm welcoming and helpful support from owners Enjoyable Thankyou- Mr Orton, July 2018
“We had a lovely holiday.”
The cottage looked like it had not long been decorated and the kitchen extension made the downstairs area feel quite roomy. The owners left us eggs, chocolates, wine and milk as well as other things in the cupboard and sent us regular text messages to ensure everything was in order. The cottage was set up a steep hill and the garden was not enclosed but this was quite manageable with our dog as there was a lovely walk down to the river. We would certainly go back there again.- Mrs Clarke, June 2018
“The house owners were charming and helpful.”
The house was immaculate and had everything anyone could possibly need. A true find.- Mrs Hopewell, June 2018
“Our stay at Apple House cottage far surpassed our expectations.”
Mary’s warm welcome and generous starter pack started us well. The photos of the cottage really don’t do it justice; it is the most beautiful comfortable property we have stayed in for many years. The living spaces downstairs are stunning and the views of the valley are quite unique. We were not as lucky with the weather, but managed a few walks and visited a few local places of interest. Many thanks Mary for your fabulous hospitality.- Mrs White, February 2018
“Our break was best ever.”
The cottage had everything we needed and more. Mary met us and explained what everything was. It was spotless everywhere. There was a welcome pack with milk, eggs, chocolate, coffee, tea, jam, sauces and oil, as well as all dish washing and washing powder, and logs for the fire. This cottage was five star without a doubt, in fact the brochure did not do it justice. We will be going again for sure.- Mr Meers, December 2017
“Mary was perfect host went out of way to help and provide Xmas tree for us and decorations as celebrated early Xmas with family as we were going to be away for Xmas as we live in France.”
We will be back if you’ll have us.- Mr Read, October 2017
“The welcome from Mary the owner on arrival was totally unexpected.”
She was friendly, informative and supplied us with fresh eggs, milk, fresh flowers, chocolates and even some home made jam. The cottage was totally equipped and had everything needed for an enjoyable stay. It was a proper home from home. We’d definitely recommend it.- Mr Haskings, October 2017
“The cottage is wonderful.”
It is clean and tidy with many gadgets available in the kitchen. It is well decorated throughout. It is situated on a very steep hill, but as long as you are ok with that this is the place for you. The owners are friendly and there was a pint of milk, fresh eggs, jam and honey in the cottage when we arrived. There is a dog friendly pub in the village. It is close to Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge, both lovely places to visit. Would book this cottage again.- Mrs Hilton, October 2017
“A really comfortable, well equipped cottage.”
We felt ourselves very lucky to find it at short notice.- Miss Reeve, September 2017
“The way the cottage was photographed gave the impression it was more isolated than it was.”
This was disappointing as we'd picked it for this reason- Mrs Schulz, September 2017
“This is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful part of Yorkshire, which was very well equipped, tastefully renovated and furnished, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean.”
We had an excellent holiday discovering the fine local countryside of the south pennines. We would highly recommend this cottage. Expect a warm welcome from the owners, nothing was too much trouble.- Mr Murgatroyd, August 2017
“We had a wonderful holiday at Apple House Cottage.”
The location and cottage were ideal, we had lovely walks and visited all the local places such as Hebden Bridge and the moors it was lovely. We had a couple of little problems and they were quickly fixed by Mary. We certainly will be looking at coming back in 2018. Thanks again for everything Pat Ashworth- Mrs Ashworth, July 2017
“I was so pleased with this cottage!”
Even the fact we took our dog eho is a bull lurcher!
