“Lovely cottage in quiet area local pubs with good food very pretty area”
“Fantastic location and very comfortable”
“The cottage was exactly what we wanted, the location is superb for enjoying the Dales and provides a great base for many lovely walks from Masham.”
The lack of Wi-Fi proved an additional benefit and created a more relaxing experience. We would highly recommend this cottage and will certainly use it again.
“The owner met us at the cottage and even saved us a parking space!”
There was a little gift of a cake and milk which was a nice thought. The cottage had every facility we needed and these were explained to us by the owner. A great central location and will certainly book again.
“The square ,in masham, is an excellent base for a walking holiday , plenty of other things to visit too , good places to eat out serving excellent food.”
“The owner and premises were fantastic.”
It was clean with personal touches and the location was superb, I really can’t recommend enough.
“A beautiful cottage with a great location, we had lovely weeks holiday.”
“WiFi would be useful”
“We were impressed by the owners leaving home-made cake, fresh milk and fresh flowers.”
The remote controls for the TV and DVD player were not easy to operate and the kettle did not seem to boil the water to a high enough temperature. However, the cottage was scrupulously clean, spacious and warm.
“All round 5 star.”
This was our first visit to Masham and we booked into The Square 17 Market Place and what a gem. Located at the church end of the village square this grade 2 listed cottage has everything.beamed ceilings,an excellent warm lounge and a fully fitted kitchen with a Stanley cooking range that all but talks. Wonderful walks from the front door and no problems with parking. There are lots of first rate dining options, we particularly liked Harrys Fish Shop and the White Bear. For a pleasant afternoon or evening try the local cricket club,it is in a lovely setting by the river and probably serves the best pint in Masham and that says something. .
“One of the best”
Just had a great week in this excellent cottage everything you could want to have a great stay in the Yorkshiredales. One of the best cottages we have stayed in masham is lovely village if you are looking to book stay here
“The Centre of Masham”
The location was perfect. The cottage was really nice, but the beds were so uncomfortable that although we would love to rebook, really concerned about the beds. If they were renewed would gladly rebook
“Excellent accommodation in the heart of Masham”
17 Market Place is, unsurprisingly, located in the centre of Masham looking out on the market square which is used by local stallholders on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The property is excellent with a lounge, kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We were met by the property owner who lives a stone's throw away and he showed us around the property and handed over the keys. We did not use the cooking facilities during our week's stay but the kitchen had all the required equipment. The cottage was clean, well presented and the provided towels and bed linens were new and fresh smelling. The only slight negative is, in a town with very little access to wi-fi in the local pubs and hotel, the property would benefit from the addition of internet access. Not a necessity for sure, but it is the only feature that we found lacking in the property. Nevertheless, we would recommend 17 Market Place and look forward to returning in the near future. Overall, the ideal spot to stay in Masham and you will not be disappointed.
This was a superbly furnished house.Plenty of information for local walks and activities and the surrounding Dales. With four pubs in the village there was no need to use the fantastic cooker range!! On arrival the homemade cake was very pleasing. We would reccommend this as a great vacation home.

About the location
Ripon 9 miles; Bedale 6 miles; Northallerton 14 miles.
The historic little market town of Masham is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale alongside the River Ure.
Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a huge market square, where a Wednesday market has been joined by a popular Saturday market.
There are lots of walks around the area, including a 10-mile walk along the Ure, arguably one of the best in the UK.
The town boasts a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs and has become best known perhaps as the home of two breweries Theakstons of Old Peculiar fame and the Black Sheep Brewery, which now brews 11 million pints of beer a year! The popular towns of Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton, Richmond and Harrogate are an easy drive away.
With so much to see and do in the area, this is a great place for a holiday in all seasons..
