“Booking with Sykes has always given us peace of mind.”

This house suited our needs although the main picture is showing the garden area and describing coming into a cosy lounge but its through the back door really as you can't open the double gates into that gravel area. The house states parking for three cars but there is no way you could park 3 cars, you have to drive down a very narrow lane and there are other cottages down there. We were ok but if someone has an SUV or large car in the party they will struggle. There is a lot of thought gone into trying to provide enough for a family's stay such as extra toilet rolls and soap, use of a BBQ and lots of seating outside. The description says selection of books games and DVDs. There is a selection of books and a couple for children but No games and hardly any DVDs but thats probably because the only Dvd players are on the 2 tvs in 2 of the double bedrooms. It was a real disappointment to find a lovely lounge but no DVD player, especially when we bought new movies to watch on our holiday, we felt a Dvd player was kind if standard. The house us in a beautiful area and we picked it cos it ticked the number of bedrooms we needed for our party. Some of the furnishings are dated but it was comfy and we couldn't get the tv in the dining room to work, but I think the owners need to bear in mind that not just families with a teenage child will visit, there are other spaces in the house that a family would want to watch a movie and having no tv in the dining room but a dvd player in the lounge would be a much better idea.

About the location

Ripon 9 miles; Bedale 6 miles; Northallerton 14 miles.

The historic little market town of Masham is situated in the lower reaches of pretty Wensleydale alongside the River Ure. Set in gently rolling farmland, the town boasts a huge market square, where a Wednesday market has been joined by a popular Saturday market. There are lots of walks around the area, including a 10-mile walk along the Ure, arguably one of the best in the UK. The town boasts a good range of crafts, galleries, shops, restaurants and pubs and has become best known perhaps as the home of two breweries Theakstons of Old Peculiar fame and the Black Sheep Brewery, which now brews 11 million pints of beer a year! The popular towns of Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton, Richmond and Harrogate are an easy drive away. With so much to see and do in the area, this is a great place for a holiday in all seasons.
