    “Really special property”

Rented the property for a weekend for an 80th birthday. The house is lovely with high standard fittings and fixtures and well equipped. It’s worth noting that one of the ensuite rooms is accessed by a metal spiral staircase at the back of the kitchen so not for the infirm. We had 17 adults in the property and there was plenty of room however it is a little cramped in the lounge with a full house. Very close to local pubs all cosy and friendly and happy to allow dogs in ( even gave left over beef for them) . We had a chippy tea for 17 and the food was lovely and the staff at the chip shop accommodating and had our order ready with 20 minutes. Sarah at the Priory Guesthouse does outside catering and supplied our birthday party food which was all amazing freshly cooked and delivered to the door so would highly recommend her. Only negative is the timing not getting in till 4pm on the Friday is a little late and then having to be out by 10am in Monday leaving a clean tidy house. For £1600 a weekend it feels more like a 2 day break so takes away from the value.

About the location

MIDDLEHAM

Leyburn 2.5 miles; Richmond 12 miles.

The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London. The horses are a great sight as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty market square is partially cobbled and offers a range of shops, pubs and places to eat. The bustling market town of Leyburn is just a short drive away offering a variety of great shops and pubs, or why not take some time to explore The Forbidden Corner, a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers and surprises set amidst 4 acres of grounds, providing a fun day out for all the family? All in all a superb base for exploring Wensleydale and all within easy driving distance of York, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales and Heritage Coast.
