  • "This was a lovely cosy cottage."

The proprietors had catered for everything we needed. Even the little home comforts. I would recommend this property to anyone one wanting to visit Wensleydale and the surrounding countryside for siteseeing and walking. The only negative was you couldn't let the dog out for a wee on its own as no garden but it did mean we got lots of wee walks in a lovely village, with its own castle and lots of beautiful views.

  • "Very well appointed cottage in excellent location near castle and centre of town."

Very close to public footpaths for walks in the countryside. For horse lovers there are horses everywhere! We took our dog and walked miles every day, but be aware it is sheep country so need to keep dogs on leads in many places. Although it has a parking space, it is a bit tight, best approached from the top of the hill and exited at the bottom, with care.

  • "Wonderful clean, cosy, comfy and well-equipped cottage."

A real home-from-home, which had a lovely feeling of history. A fantastic base for exploring the area. And great to have a parking spot too. Already planning a 2020 holiday.

  • "Left early because of illness, but the days at the cottage were good."

It was a pity that, in similarity with other cottages in this area, a garden was non-existent. The shortened holiday was excellent, and we were sorry to leave. We would recommend this company to you, and will certainly use them again.

    I'd go back here!

  • "We were very pleased with the cottage facilities and location."

There was however a great amount of dog hair on the settee and were continually having to remove it from our clothing. The previous occupants had obviousl allowed there dog on the seating. Unfortunately we would not consider booking this cottage again.

  • "'Stonecroft' is a little gem with parking."

There is nothing that hasn't been thought about to make your stay comfortable. Fantastic walks on the doorstep, nice places to eat and the cottage could not be more central to the village. In the words of Arney, I'll be back! Mandy Walker 22nd - 29th Dec 2018

  • "Lovely cottage, beautiful location, literally a minute walk from the castle."

We were there during Storm Ali, and once inside the cottage we couldn't hear or feel the wind! Made welcome with nice biscuits, milk and costa coffee pods. Parking is a little quirky, but we learned to come in past the castle and out down the hill. Our dog was welcome, but with no garden we had to walk him nearby. Lane next to castle, met loads of other dog owners there. Ideal location to visit the dales, and a lovely village with pubs, excellent fish and chip shop and local general store.

The attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is renowned for its history and race horses. Much of the history is bound up with its Norman castle, which dates from 1190 and has a castle keep second in size only to the Tower of London. The horses are a great sight as they make their way to the gallops every morning. The pretty market square is partially cobbled and offers a range of shops, pubs and places to eat. The bustling market town of Leyburn is just a short drive away offering a variety of great shops and pubs, or why not take some time to explore The Forbidden Corner, a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers and surprises set amidst 4 acres of grounds, providing a fun day out for all the family?
