"Our 2nd stay at Ripon ,Ist at this location and will return whenever we are in the area."
Everything is spot on ,all that we needed, comfy seating ,great shower, safe enclosed patio for the dogs.Walks from the door and a couple of minutes walk to shops ,pubs, places for food. The house has parking outside and 2 allocated parking places. The One Eyed Rat a great real ale pub ,with a beer garden ,we take our takeaway there and some get theirs delivered to the pub.Ideal to be able to go for a meal or to the pub without the car.
-
"Very clean and comfortable house in a very quiet spot but literally 5 minutes from everything you might want to visit in Ripon whether it be visiting the town, cathedral etc or a walk along the river shell."
Park the car and relax. Lots of places to eat lunch or tea. All dog friendly except Wetherspoons Many places to visit a short drive away. Thank you to the owners for the tea, coffee, biscuits and the milk in the fridge. Much appreciated along with washing up liquid and toilet roll.

We had a 3 night stay it was very well equipped beds comfortable and very clean we really enjoyed our stay lovely area and a 2 minute walk to the town centre and easy to get around
-
"The property is excellent very clean comfortable and perfectly placed within the city, designated parking and access to the city centre make this property an absolute must for people visiting Ripon and surrounding areas."
The welcome book provides plenty of information on the area and I must recommend moti raj restaurant for probably the best takeaway we have had in a very long time.
-
"We really enjoyed our short break in Ripon."
A well equipped and comfortable property in a great location - and only a few minutes walk to the cathedral and the centre of the city. We have stayed in many rented properties all over the UK and I must say that an outstanding feature of this one was the cleanliness of the house that was obvious when you first walk through the door - whoever cleans and prepares this property is a real gem!
-
"A lovely small house with everything you could want."
We stayed a week and it is ideal for a short walk to the centre of Ripon and accessing lots of other places. Recommendation for the local fish and chip shop - very good service and large portions but they close at 7:30. Off road parking was a real bonus.
-
"We throughly enjoyed our stay ."
The house is very clean and well equipped. To have 2 designated parking spaces in a built up area is a real plus . Downstairs in the house there is a comfortable living room and a practical kitchen . Upstairs there is two comfortable bedrooms and a large bathroom . Outside there is an enclosed private patio area which our dog enjoyed and felt safe . The house is central to Ripon so a short walk to the shops/cafes is easy . Booths supermarket is our favourite . We would recommend this property and would be happy to stay again

"Myself and my wife stayed at this property for a week in early May."
Upon initially entering it we were immediately impressed and this feeling stayed with us throughout. It is a modern property, in a pleasant and quiet area of the town. The furnishings are modern and attractive, and it is well equipped with everything you are likely to need for your stay. Car parking facilities are excellent, with a reserved space in 2 of the designated parking areas local to the house. We chose to leave our vehicle untouched for the week, but to and fro access would be no problem if preferred. Situation of the house is perfect, being a few minutes walk into the centre of an interesting town in one direction, whilst the opposite direction was only steps away from the riverside and canal with lots of scope for walks. Perfect for us, and plenty of others I would guess. Well recommended.
-
"What a delightful property!"
Very charming and comfortable (and warm, during an unseasonably cold spring stay), with just about all of our needs anticipated. We really appreciated the parking space(s), and were pleasantly surprised at the proximity to the market square and the cathedral. Ripon is an underrated gem of a city. We enjoyed it so much that before we left, we booked a return visit in the summer.
-
"Really enjoyed our stay in Ripon."
House very comfortable, clean, warm and had everything we needed to relax after a day out exploring Yorkshire. Less than 5 minutes walk to city centre Cathedral and amenities. Good to have details of places to visit as they helped to confirm our plans. I would certainly recommend the property to friends.
-
"A lovely modern, comfortable house with everything you need."
There is even a view of beautiful Ripon cathedral from the bedroom window. Easy walking distance to town and all facilities. My only criticism would be the water temperature of the shower and hot water temp generally, which I'm sure the owner could easily rectify. Also, fixing the bath plug, as I have really missed having a bath! Parking wasn't always available at the front door but a great designated space just 50yds around the corner - no great hardship. Beds were super comfy and really homely house. We really enjoyed our stay - thank you.
-
"A lovely place in a great location with great places to visit in every direction."
Nice neighbours and brilliant for short and long dog walks up and down the river and canal. Very conveniently close to town but also nicely quiet. The house is very clean and a nice layout. The bed was extremely comfortable. We would definitely consider coming back here in the future.
-
"A lovely house very near to the centre of Ripon."
Very warm and comfortable, beautifully decorated and well equipped. Would definitely like to return.
-
"We had a brilliant stay at 8 Williamson Drive over New Year."
This is an outstanding property - spotlessly clean, furnished to a high standard and within a stones throw of the centre of beautiful Ripon. The living room is warm, cosy and comfortable and the kitchen very well equipped with everything you need. The beds are very comfortable and the house was lovely and warm during our stay. Ripon is a great place to visit with plenty going on locally and some lovely walks very close by. Within Ripon we particularly enjoyed visiting The Royal Oak, So Bar and Eats and the Ripon Inn. We would definitely return. If I could change anything at 8 Williamson Drive, it would be to have a proper dining table and chairs. I felt the extra seating in the dining area unnecessary as there are two large sofas in the lounge to easily seat 4 people and it feels like wasted space really which would be better utilised as a proper dining area. There is a fold away table but it was awkward to get the chairs out and they were uncomfortable to sit on. A small niggle in an otherwise faultless holiday home.
-
"Really loved my stay here."
Lovely well thought out property with everything that I needed. So close to local amenities, easy walking distance. Loved hearing the cathedral bells. Great base for exploring the area, lots of places to visit. Parking a bonus! Look forward to my next stay.
-
"A lovely clean place to stay, in a great quiet location, within easy walking distance of Ripon centre."
There are plenty of places nearby to visit and river and canal walks from the door .We would have preferred a table and chairs set up to use ,but everything else was fine.A visitor book would be helpful ,as mentioned before,as they hold more info for people to read.
-
"Lovely little place in a fantastic location."
Will definitely be visiting again on the near future!
-
"Summer quilt instead of the winter one, which was too hot."
Opening the windows to cool the place was out of the question due to the church chimes every 15 minutes. A nest of tables or similar to put your coffee cup instead of the floor. No dish cloth provided.
-
"Good that the owners read the comments; There is a bathroom mirror now."
There is also a hairdryer. Great for 2 people but a bit squashed for 4 adults . More chairs in the yard please. Lovely to listen to the cathedral bells and chimes- missed them when we got home. A visitor book would be great so that people can share experiences. Thank you
-
"Situated just a few minutes walk from town this house is well equipped and handy for all the amenities of Ripon."
Only suggestion I’d make, a shaving mirror over the bathroom basin would be useful.
-
"Lovely property in a great location."
Situated in a very quiet residential area but only a couple of minutes walk into the centre of Ripon. Good to have a choice of walks for our dog especially with the canal being very close by. Also great to have a choice of parking spaces. If you do bring your dog then the rear courtyard is totally enclosed and dog friendly. (Be aware that next door do have a small dog as well but this was not a problem for us). Everything provided that you need for a great holiday - my only suggestion would be to have bigger bath towels! We would most definitely return to this property again.
-
"A very convenient holiday home with everything you might need for a week away."
Perhaps the central heating doesn't need to fire up so early - 5:30am - it is quite noisy.
-
"Lovely cottage, great for dog safe rear yard and bonus safe area out front as well."
Huge living/dinning room spacious. Warm and clean. Two double bedrooms, beds on the firm side but comfortable, back bedroom has amasing view of the cathedral. Plenty of eateries nearby literally 5 mins walk to market Square. Recommend walking to hell wrath nature area beautiful which my beagle loved. Plenty nearby walks and of course fountains Abbey and deer Park only 3 miles away. Would highly recommend staying here, thank you x
-
"Great Location for Ripon and access via the 36 bus to Harrogate and Leeds."
House was confortable and had everything we needed given we had to change from our original choice because of a water leak notified to us with days to go before our journey to Ripon. Would recommend 8 Williamson Drive and am sure it will be successful for Ripon visitors. Increased pan selection and the addition of a hairdryer would improve things even more.
-
"Our 2nd time at Williamson Drive, and again really enjoyed the experience."
Only downside is we struggled setting the shower/bath water temperature something we did not experience the first time we stayed.
Hi great to see you at Williamson Drive again, glad that you enjoyed it and hope that you will be able to jon us again this year over the festive season! Thank you for the feedback, we have checked & adjusted the heating settings and everything is now fine. Property Owner
-
"This was one of the nicest houses that we've stayed in through Sykes."
It was more like a home than a holiday let. Super comfortable bed, powerful shower. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need, and nice to have outside space. Plus, you can park right in front of the house, a few steps to front door. We will def look to stay here again if we are back in Ripon
-
"A great place to stay."
Central to beautiful Ripon, very clean and comfortable. Thank you for a great stay.
-
"Lovely cottage/House, good location, good and spacious."
good size bedrooms. Great to have car park just round the corner. Nice to have tea and coffee station on arrival. Lovely courtyard made use of the washing line as we used the local swimming pool which we were very impressed by for it cleanness and facilities would recommend to everyone. Ripon was a great place to stay, and we hope to return soon.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a great location."
We couldn’t fault it. Would love to stay again sometime.
-
"Williamson Drive is a little oasis of quiet pleasant suburban-ness, just a very short walk from the busy town, with all its restaurants, shops and attractions."
Cross the bridge and there are excellent walks along the river. We parked right outside the house all week, (with two more nearby places available). The house was squeaky clean, very well equipped and was comfortable. It's furniture is a bit of a mix and the landing floor is a little creaky. But the bedrooms are large with plenty of storage with good beds, (although one is a pillow eater). Nice bathroom and modern kitchen. We would be happy to return.
-
"Only thing missing was hair dryer!"
Very comfortable cottage within easy walking distance to the centre and lovely access to river walks, pubs etc.
-
"Fantastic holiday house great location, exceptionally clean and well equipped with everything your likely to need only thing could have done with extra pillows on bed maybe provide and leave in wardrobe so option is there if required."
Bed in front room to hard for our liking maybe a mattress topper would help. Also found floorboards very creaky upstairs but don’t know how you’d fix this . Would also have liked extra outside chairs as we had to use one of the dining chairs as there is only 2 provided yet property sleeps 4 . As mentioned in a previous feedback there is a dog that barks next door but the owner did take it into house when they knew we were about . Would definitely recommend .
-
"Excellent, central location with parking."
Well equipped. Comfortable, even on hot days. Good bedroom and storage space. Really good shower. Some decor looking slightly tired.
-
"Lovely accommodation."
Plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses, cooking utensils. Very clean and clear information provided. Nice little back Pateo. Very near to ripon cathedral and centre. Restaurants within 5 mins walk. We enjoyed a canal trip and a walk along the river at the end of the road. Excellent bus service. We caught the bus to Harrogate. Central position for visiting various other parts of the Dales. Have already recommended to some friends and would definitely return to this accommodation if visiting the area again.
-
"Our stay in Ripon at no 8 was great."
The location is ideal with everything within walking distance. The house is very clean and comfortable and well equipped We have friends a five minutes walk away so it was lovely to meet up with them. Definitely will book another stay at no 8.
-
"A good place to put your head down at night."
Ideal for Ripon town centre. Some elements of stay needed improvement. Furniture uncomfortable(including beds, pillows and sofas). Some kitchen gear needs replacing. Welcome pack very basic. A hairdryer would have been helpful. Neighbours very loud/noisy, and have dogs that bark constantly, we couldn’t sit in the courtyard because of this.
-
"Lovely house in a pleasant complex very handy for the city centre."
Well equipped and comfortable. Useful courtyard at the back for outside dining but on our stay, next door’s dog took exception to our dogs (that weren’t barking) and barked continuously even though the fencing obscured sight of them. Nothing much the owners could do about that I guess. Good parking facility though could be tight if all the spaces were occupied I imagine. Would definitely book again.
-
"Lovely house close to town."
We really enjoyed our stay, the house was in the perfect spot, lots of lovely walks nearby,
-
"Brilliant location."
Easy access to town centre. Easy to get to other locations like Harrogate and Knaresborough and others . Plenty of choices for eating out. Very enjoyable stay and will return. Many thanks. Phil and Gill.
-
"Lovely location for exploring Ripon and the area."
The house was ideal for the two of us and the dogs. Just a minor point it would be great if there was salt, pepper and vinegar supplied in the kitchen as it is not always something you bring with you.
-
"Lovely house and ideally situated."
Well equipped and comfortable.
-
"GREAT LOCATION AND GREAT COTTAGE - PERFECT FOR A SHORT BREAK, BUT WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK FOR LONGER."
JUST NEEDS A DECENT CORKSCREW!
-
"Really enjoyed our holiday, ideally situated in a very quiet location yet very close to the centre."
Plenty of parking and lots of walks for our dogs
-
"Good location close to city centre with river walks on the doorstep."
-
"Lovely house, perfect location."
Might come back. Thanks.
-
"Lovely holiday home in an excellent location."
Only a very short walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants of Ripon. We did a lovely walk to Fountains Abbey, straight from the property, which I would highly recommend. The property was comfortable, and the kitchen well equipped. I would have preferred to see a dressing table in the main bedroom, but I worked round it by bringing a dining chair up! A couple of side tables in the lounge would also have been good. Overall a lovely stay.
-
"The only downside to our visit was the property had not been cleaned by the time we arrived."
I had to ring the owner to inform them of this. He apologized for this and said there had been a miscommunication between Sykes and the owners. Cleaners did arrive by 17-00 and completed cleaning within the hour.
-
"The house was lovely,in a great location, clean, well equipped and comfortable."
All you need for a relaxing stay.
-
"It would have been helpful if the parking places for the cars were explained before you left for the holiday rather than having to read it in the welcome brochure as they were in 2 separate areas not at all visible on arrival."
The house was lovely but as I cook evening meals I think spare plates, small pudding bowls, a measuring jug, would Pyrex bowl be helpful. We bought bits and pieces and brought them home with us. The spacious fridge, good cooker and hob was excellent I would recommend this property for a holiday.
-
"Great location, minutes from the centre of Ripon yet in a quiet area."
Private parking. Spotlessly clean on arrival. Lovely walks on your doorstep.
-
"Great location."
-
"Lovely property, spacious and clean."
-
"The house is in an excellent location a stone's throw away from the city."
It was really convenient having stones parking space. Ripon is a great location to explore Yorkshire. We met the hosts dad and he was very helpful and friendly. A great place to stay would recommend.
-
"We had a lovely stay at 8 Williamson Drive."
The cottage is in a great location, just a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants, pubs, parks and play areas. The cottage was clean and provided all that we needed for a comfortable stay. It was good to see that the owners are keen to meet the needs of their guests. A previous review mentioned the need for a dining table in the cottage so we were pleased to see that a fold out table and chairs had been provided and other household items were added at the beginning of our stay. A lovely place to stay, and dog friendly too!
-
"This is a very good place to stay, but a few additions would make it even better."
The lounge needs a dining table and chairs. A couple can just about manage on the kitchen breakfast bar (we did), but a family could not. The kitchen needs a frying pan, extra saucepan, oven glove, potato peeler, spatula. In the bathroom, the washbasin plug doesn't fit properly, and it also needs to be unblocked with a plunger. Both bedrooms need a light bulb replacing, as does the lounge. We wanted to recycle items, but the box and bag mentioned in the folder were not in the cupboard under the stairs, so we took our recycling home.
Thank you very much for your feedback. All kitchen equipment has been added to the property. A folding table and four chairs has been added for use either in the living/dining room or in the garden. We have also ordered a clothes rail for the second bedroom and replaced the plug in the bathroom sink. Once again thank you for your feedback. Property Owner
