  • "Amazing place, ideal for our family."

This was our second visit and it certainly lived up to expectations. Hayley is always helpful and responds very quickly to any issues. Last time we said there should be 2 dishwashers and these are now installed.

  • "We have just returned from a fabulous family weekend at Myddleton Grange."

It is a fabulous venue and the house met all the expectations for our mixed age group (3 weeks to 70). We were very lucky with the weather too and had a great BBQ, but there is plenty of space inside the house if you needed to stay inside. Some comments from the group: A fantastic building; Perfect for large groups; Lovely surroundings; Excellent accommodation; Family friendly; Exceptional thought for the amusement of young children; Well equipped kitchen; Clean comfortable bedrooms; Great space; Plenty of parking; The hot tubs were fab; The cinema was great. Ilkley is a really nice town and is within walking distance of the house (although coming back you do have a steep hill to climb). We loved our weekend and would definitely be happy to visit again.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at this amazing property, all rooms were clean and well presented."

We were a group of family and friends from a variety of places across the UK, this beautiful house offered a perfect solution to get together for the weekend with a huge group (various families). All correspondence with owners was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others and we'll certainly book again in the future.

  • "We booked Myddelton Grange to celebrate a 70th birthday for the weekend 13th to 16th January 2023."

The ages of the people staying there ranged from 7 years to 70 years. The property was perfect. We took everything we needed with us and with a large oven, hobs and three dishwashers made sure we could cook meals and wash up easily afterwards. The cinema was regularly in use - either fior watching football or playing computer games (someone brought their play station/X-box) - the popcorn machine in there was a great success. Despite the cold weather, the hot tubs were enjoyed by both adults and children! I know that the putting green was used by a couple of people too as was the sauna. We were disappointed we couldn't use the fire pit - although it was there ready for us to use - we decided it was too cold, wet and windy (we'd brought marshmallows and hot chocolate for that so we all had hot chocolate inside instead!). The children spent a happy hour in the art room and painted us some lovely pictures! Some members of the family played football in the full size and full equipped gym (including soccer nets) downstairs. The bar was an amazing room - a lovely large room with a full size pool table and snooker table but plenty of room to walk around them. There was an ice making machine in the bar, equipment for dispensing draught beer, two fridges and a cooler cupboard. There was plenty of room to store the drink we had brought with us. Some guests had a walk into Ilkley and some went on a walk in the countryside. Everyone had a fantastic time and keep asking us when we can go back!!!! Not one child said they were bored all weekend which was fantastic. The bedrooms were OK - I understand that the windows rattled in some bedrooms and also caused a draught, we found the mattresses to be really hard (I know this is a matter of preference but I, particularly found this to be an issue). As this is a self catering accommodation there is no shower gel or soap in the bathrooms (I took extra for those who had forgotten theirs!). It does say there is parking for about 6 vehicles but you can actually park a lot more vehicles there. I had a few questions before we went there - Sykes Cottages and the property owner answered them all promptly without any problem. We had an absolutely amazing fun packed weekend. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. Members of our party are still talking about how the amazing the weekend was.

Hayley was very helpful with our preparations, including facilitating a barrel of beer! We were very well catered for by Tina Walters who provided all of our meals which meant that it was very like having a hotel to ourselves! We put the snooker table, bar and cinema to very good use (but not the gym!) Overall, a fantastic holiday!

  • "The whole property was ideal for our extended family, who had come from the US, Canada, and Europe for my son's wedding."

The location is superb (showcases Yorkshire dales to perfection), as was the space, the layout, cleanliness, and the responsiveness of the staff to our needs. Each time I called about a query, the response was prompt, efficient and helpful. All in all, we were very pleased with our stay and would highly recommend it. However, I would add the following caveats that need attention and, were it not for these deficiencies, would have given the whole property 5 stars and a 10 rating. Serious and needs urgent attention 1. The bathrooms were not the standard expected. There were no towel bars and nowhere to hang towels, wet bath mats or clothes. Could you please install towel bars in the bathrooms? 2. I used room 17 -the shower in room 17 constantly dripped, and each time it was used, the whole bathroom was flooded and a mess. The flooding, I assume, was the case for all the showers as they have designed without thought about functionality 3. The toilet in room 10 leaked -so creates a hygiene problem and needs to be repaired. Less serious issues, but if addressed, would substantially improve the experience of the guests. 1. The plug point in my room - room 17 was behind the bed and inaccessible. So the table lamp is not connected as the cord would not reach and is therefore there as a mere decoration. I assume this was a problem for most rooms. If there were extension power bars connected to these inaccessible plug points behind the bed, the table lamps, phone chargers etc., could have been used. 2. The kitchen is very spacious and very well equipped. It would be wonderful if you could supply a Nespresso machine or a fresh press for those who are not into instant coffee. 3. The lift was not working, and neither was the hot baths, so these should be taken out of the description. We were not bothered by these.

Thank you for your valuable feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay for your son’s wedding! We have noted the issues raised and have now replaced the shower, attached the bedroom plugs to the wall for easier access and fixed the toilet you noted. We don’t have the lift advertised as we do not keep this in service due to insurance issues with unsupervised children potentially using the lift. Property Owner

  • "All in all we had an amazing family holiday at Myddleton."

It's an impressive building providing something for everybody. And we have taken away some amazing family memories, especially for the children. However, there were a number of issues. Firstly the lift needs removing from the property description. Having a severe lung condition this was a big factor in my booking Myddleton. I didn't see anywhere in the details that it was no longer in service. The maintenance contract on the hot tubs is totally inadequate. By Tuesday the water in them looked & smelled disgusting. So I had to contact Hayley (the owner) who arranged to have them emptied and refilled on Wednesday. Meaning from Tuesday morning until Wednesday evening they were out of use to us. I regularly holiday at forest holidays log cabins who maintain their's daily, balancing the chemicals to prevent this problem from happening. The children were excited to use the popcorn machine in the cinema room but it was broken so they were disappointed. I had to get a family member to bring my extra large BBQ through from York because the properties is far too small for the number of people staying, plus it had not been cleaned out. There is also a fault on the alarm system. Three times it went off flagging up a problem in the ground entrance & 1st floor landing. Luckily I had gents with me who were able to turn it off each time, but it needs looking at. We struggled for fridge space. I would suggest replacing the two in the property with two of the bigger American one's. The ground floor super king bed has a large mound down the middle of it making it very uncomfortable. I was also disappointed to see the paved areas front & back were in need of weeding, it looked unkempt. The planters at the back are falling apart and are also a hazard. We had to try bending round the metal band on them as they were sticking out. The bench seating area nearest the dining room had not been swept. It was quite a mess, including a couple of small black canvas bags thrown in the corner. The cleaners need to check inside wardrobes, we found a couple of plastic plates inside one on our arrival. Lastly, we had great difficulty with the ovens. No matter what we tried we could not find that happy medium between under cooking and cremating with the temperature of them. If all the above were rectified, Myddleton would be the perfect large holiday property. Thankyou. Sue..

  • "Property has a lift and should really be serviced & working , Bedrooms could do with long mirrors , bathrooms a place to put shower products ."

The gym could benefit from some more equipment. Outside the hotubs can't be used if raining so would benefit from a roof / canopy , And hooks for robes etc. Otherwise very decent set up .

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Myddelton Grange! We do not advertise the lift as we do not have this in use due to our insurance policy. We have put more gym equipment in the function room, however due to Health and Safety and the unsupervised use of gym equipment, particularly by children we are limited in what gym equipment we can have. About the location

ILKLEY

Bolton Abbey 5 miles; Skipton 9 miles.

The old Spa town of Ilkley is the pivotal town of Wharfedale, undoubtedly the most popular of all the Yorkshire Dales. The area offers some of the most spectacular and unspoilt scenery in the land. For the walker it gives unrivalled tramping ground. High up on the moors next to the white-walled cottage of White Wells (where once donkeys carried gout-ridden gentlemen to be doused in the icy-cold moorland spring) visitors will see a carefully landscaped Victorian scene including two semi-artificial lakes and the river Wharfe meandering through the centre of the town. Ilkley still has a Victorian and Edwardian feel to it. Splendid shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés adorn the tree-lined streets. Bettys, without doubt the finest tea shop in Yorkshire, and therefore the world, is situated on The Grove. Lovely parkland, a choice of open air or indoor swimming pools and a family picnic area providing pleasure for all. It is the starting point of the 84 mile-long 'Dales Way' walk, which is breathtakingly beautiful! Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the 'Strid' is a must. Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”.
