  • "We stayed at Hill Top Cottage for a long weekend and a special occasion 01 - 04 March."

The cottage itself is delightful, spacious and comfortable and you can tell the passion that has gone into preparing it to be a lovely holiday home. We received a very warm welcome and the gifts were much appreciated. The cottage is very well equipped and home from home, couldn’t fault our stay at all.

The Kitchen was well equipped, everything you needed to cook meals. You need not travel to far to explore different areas near by. With plenty of walks from the door of the cottage.

The holiday was excellent. Well appointed and great showers. A smart, comfortable living room with a separate lounge/ dining room. A utility room next to kitchen, with a super fridge/freezer. The views towards Haworth were a treat. A great area with lots to visit e.g. park & ride to York about 1 hour away, Haworth minutes away, and beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery with pretty market towns.

  • "We stayed at Hilltop cottage from 19th - 25th May."

We booked this cottage as the photos looked as if it was a traditional cottage, which is something we both enjoy. However,we were very pleasantly surprised to find that ,whereas, the ground floor was traditionally furnished, the top floor has been modernised. The bathrooms and the large and spacious showers were fab. It is obvious that Michelle and Paul have spent a great deal of time and effort into making the cottage very comfortable. Lots to do in the area. We were there for the 1940's weekend which was a great day out. Most people were in the 1940's clothes, singing and dancing

  • "Had a lovely week at Hill Top Cottage, even the weather behaved."

The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked with crockery, cutlery and pans, although you would be best to take your own condiments. Michelle left us a nice welcome gift of coffee, tea, prosecco and a packet of local biscuits. The whole cottage was very clean and the instructions for the heating system, WiFi and bins were very clear. We ate mainly at the cottage cooking for ourselves, but the Co-op, both in Oakworth and Haworth, were well stocked and nearby Keighley has 4 large supermarkets. We had a Chinese takeaway from the shop in Keighley and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not try the local pubs, so I am not able to comment. If you are a steam train or film enthusiast you can get on the Worth Valley steam train at Oakworth Station, which also featured in both The Railway Children and The Return of the Railway Children. We would certainly recommend and come back again. The view from the garden is certainly worth it.

  • "Beautiful spacious cottage with extensive views."

Everything is well thought out, one of the best equipped cottages we've ever stayed in. Lovingly renovated to a very high standard by the owners Paul and Michelle who were so welcoming and helpful especially as there was heavy snowfall and we needed help getting up the road, they dug the road and the next day they did the same for my parents when they got stuck. Location is quiet but well located for the beautiful surrounding villages with walking from the door, no need for a car. We went on the steam train at Oakworth and walked to Haworth both wonderful experiences. We usually go to new cottages each time to vary our holidays but we will definitely be back to Hilltop in the future.

  • "The cottage was spotlessly clean and very welcoming."

The owner was friendly and most helpful. Sadly our visit was for us to attend 2 family funerals in the area. For this reason we were a party with elderly parents. The stairs to the upstairs were steep, my parents struggled a little to climb them. It might be useful to share this in the description of the cottage. I may have missed the details about the stairs when booking. I booked with short notice. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would love to visit again under different circumstances.

The property is spacious and was immaculate when we arrived. Two sitting rooms with lots of space and lovely furniture A lovely rocking chair to sit and soak in the lovely views of the outdoor seating and greens. The bedrooms have lovely views with windows in Bedrooms and bathrooms. Spacious bathrooms one on-suite and the other in close proximity to two other bedrooms. Enough storage in all rooms. Both Bathrooms tastefully done and brand new. The showers are great with good pressure unlike most of holiday cottages we have been. The kitchen very well equipped with lots of pots and pans and cutlery, glasses, cups and the best kitchen knives. The fridge is huge for storing with a fantastic washing machine all brand new. Thanks to Michelle for leaving us some goodies. Everything provided was of high standard with quality tea, coffee, Prosecco, milk and biscuits. No wonder they have earned the best Sykes award for giving us the quality and space for a great outdoors holiday. We couldn't use up the whole week due to work commitments but we had a great holiday. The Grouse INN is just a few minutes from the cottage and is value for money. Just a note of thanks to Michelle and Paul for the most comfortable and amazing stay in their cottage and we hope to visit again as we love Yorkshire.

The family, who are next door, are very pleasant, friendly and helpful, couldn't find nicer people. The area has beautiful scenery, wish I had been younger to do some hill walking - it is a very hilly area so need to be fit to go walking. It was great on the Steam Train which you can hop on 2 miles away, we stayed on it most of day! The staff are very kind and helpful. We found the best restaurants were the Grouse (BD22 0RX sat nav) they are a little pricey but excellent food and very pleasant staff. The Busfield arms (BD20 5SP) very reasonable and very good food. Can be a little slow on the service but worth it. We found Skipton great for a shop. Small town (CAR PARK BD23 1ED) but a great market Mom/Wed/Fri - The Holy Trinity Church, at end of high Street, offers a very nice reasonable lunch, but there are other cafe'.

About the location

OAKWORTH

Haworth 1 mile; Skipton 10 miles.

Oakworth is a small Pennine village just two miles from Haworth, overlooking the Worth Valley, made famous by the filming of the classic 1970 film version of E.E. Nesbitt's novel, The Railway Children. Besides its close proximity to Haworth and the moors, Oakworth has an attractive ornamental park, and is within easy reach of the town of Keighley. Nearby Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were much-inspired by the surrounding moorland. Haworth has a myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, and all this against a backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights. Nearby, the famous Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, makes a lovely day out, with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area is full of popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail. The market town of Skipton, Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate, and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
