Fantastic accommodation. Disappointed that we could not have a safe walk into Oxenhope.

  • "What a fabulous little place to stay."

The views are amazing and the shepherds hut was like a mini home from home. Everything you could possibly need. The milk for a cuppa, the chocolate and gingerbread was a lovely treat waiting for us on arrival after a long drive. Everything was just perfect. Tracey had obviously put a lot of thought into how to make a little place of loveliness and she succeeded. We struck lucky and had some fabulous weather and there are lots of great places not far away to explore. Haworth was a delight as was Brontë Falls. Thank you for a great few days away. We will be back.

  • "We had a lovely holiday, a very nice area for walking; only spoilt by snow so maybe not a March holiday."

We did find the hut a bit draughty at the bed end….window, & the shower room was very chilly; especially when the temperature dropped.I think l would recommend a long weekend stay rather than a week as space is obviously limited, but that is just a personal choice. However there were several cobwebs from light fittings & also in shower room.

We were only there for a couple of days, so we got by, but I would recommend you looking into it. We didn't want to bother you with it at the time, because we were out and about. It was the only small negative of our stay, everything else was perfect and a lovely little place to stay.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Moor Skies."

The Shepherds Hut is so cosy with lovely views, lots of walks on your doorstep and plenty of wildlife to view from the windows. The hut itself is very well equipped with everything you need to cook a meal and a fold up table to sit and eat it at whilst looking down the valley at the views. Lovely toiletries and plenty of towels to use in the cute shower room. There is a key safe so you can be completely contactless if required and the owner Tracey is around if needed but we were left to get on with our holiday. Tracey kindly text us to make sure we were OK after a big storm and that we were warm enough and had enough blankets which was very thoughtful. The weather was very cold and windy when we stayed but the little log burner gives out a lot of heat plus there are a couple of heaters if required. The bed is very comfy and we slept really well after all the fresh air. We enjoyed exploring Hebden Bridge, lots of vegetarian and vegan food available and fabulous fresh artisan bread from the Blue Sky Bakery. Such a relaxing break and we would thoroughly recommend!

  • "Absolutely fantastic break!"

Cabin is so cute and cozy in a beautiful setting. Log burning furnis wakes it so warm and inviting (providing you aren't as rubbish as me at lighting it). Mrs Bunton is very friendly and always on hand if needed but otherwise won't bother you at all. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be going back.

  • "Wonderful cosy hut!"

I arrived at the end of Storm Arwen when the power had been cut off and Tracey couldn't do enough to make me feel welcome, safe and warm - extra duvet, logs and hot water provided. Luckily electric was back on after a day! The hut is so cosy and the log burner is so easy to use and heats the hut without much effort and gives it a really cosy feel. In fact if anything the hut can get too warm! :-) Hut has everything you need for cooking and TV in bed is a luxury too. The location is every hill walkers dream and I will definitely return again (having already stayed before in April 2021). Love this place! Thank you Tracey!

Lots of little extras provided e.g coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits! Close by Haworth and walking paths of your taking your dog along. Would definitely recommend and revisit! My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was due to the WiFi not working and therefore we couldn’t get the Netflix working on the TV. Wasn’t a major issue, just bothered us on a night once we were tucked in bed!

Our favourite place was Haworth and can recommend the Haworth Steam Brewery Co. The staff are very friendly and the food is scrummy! Hebden Bridge and Skipton are beautiful places to visit too! Amazing walks, especially the walk to Bronte Falls, very pretty. Our Jack Russell cross Bobsy had a lovely time too! Would love to stay at Moor Skies again in the not too distant future.

The hut was very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We were left to our devises but the owner was around if we needed her. The lady's who tended the horses where also friendly. There are lots of walks in the local area, would recommend Haworth village and the Oxenhope steam train. History of the area involves the Bronte sisters and the railways children films so lots to do regarding these. Would definitely stay again if we return to Yorkshire and have already recommended to a friend.

  • "The location is perfect on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, scenic in itself and really near (10 mins walk, a minute in the car to the parking) a large country park (Penistone Hill), perfect for dogwalks."

Then ranging a bit wider, we went to Haworth Parsonage, to Ilkley Moor, to lovely waterfalls at Ingleton (a strenuous walk), to the Bronte Falls near the hut. The village had shops, pubs (one with good food) takeaway etc, as did everywhere else we visited. The Shepherds hut itself is small, cosy even in galeforce winds and rain, and fitted really well with all the facilities you could want. I could have cooked a full meal easily, but was happy to have a holiday from that too, so we mostly had a main meal out, then contented ourselves with snack-type meals. It was a delight to go back to the hut after our nice days out and settle down comfortably with a book and the wifi for our laptop. There's a TV too, but we seldom watch TV anyway. Skipton looks like a lovely town too, we wished we had time to fit that in too, but as the Covid19 virus was just becoming a problem (and we are both old) we decided to stick mostly to country walks rather than busy towns. Not that we've had any symptoms, nor any known contacts, but it was an easy place to stay safe too. The farm was a delight too, with horses, sheep and the families pets. If you want a rural retreat, with the option of nearby towns to visit, this is hard to beat. We loved it

Unless you're a very keen walker you really need a car - although there's a bus stop close to the entrance and we did see buses, but I can't say how frequent they were. Lovely basket of essentials like bread and milk on arrival - which was nice to have. Except for the first night when one of the neighbouring farms seemed to be having a party (with fireworks) it's a quiet spot with stunning views. And even when it rained (and it did!) you could still sit inside and see the countryside spread out below you.

About the location

OXENHOPE

Haworth 2 miles; Hebden Bridge 6 miles; Skipton 14 miles.

The small village of Oxenhope lies amid wonderful scenery, and offers the chance to take advantage of the multitude of walks in the area. The village, with its shops, churches and pubs, is home to the terminus for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, which runs on a regular basis to Haworth and on down to Keighley. The area was made famous by the Bronte sisters, and the outstanding countryside was famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. The area abounds with popular places to visit; the cobbled streets of Haworth, the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail. The market town of Skipton, known as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds.
