  • "Everything was lovely apart from the cleaning they were webs in every room, as if it wasn’t cleaned before my stay."

Would recommend if you don’t mind webs and spiders but personally I missed out didn’t stay the both nights just during the day as I kept seeing huge spiders near my bedroom and webs and dust

  • "Our stay at Cunliffe Barn was fantastic."

It was exactly as advertised, in a very peaceful and quiet area. The Barn its self was very spacious, easily big enough for 4 people. We loved everything about it and would definitely visit again, if I had to complain the only issues I would highlight would be that there was quite a few cob-webs that could do to be removed and just small areas that have been repaired that could do to be 'touched up'. Apart from that it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.

  • "Had a great week at Cunliffe Barn."

Facilities were as described and we were welcomed by an excellent hamper of goodies and also other extras not always provided at other cottages, e.g., dishwasher tablets, shower gels, soap etc. The kitchen was also very well equipped, and Netflix on TV was a bonus. The Wifi worked but could benefit from being faster. The hot tub was excellent after a hard day of hiking and is very private. Would definitely return again.

  • "Nice property, lovely settin,g hot tub great & welcome hamper a great touch."

Not given 10/10 as for us the lack of a blind in the bedroom and thin curtains meant bedtime was tricky (we went in may so light at 5am and not dark until 9-10pm & travelled with a 10 month old and 2 year old so may not be an issue for others!) and lack of a dining table was disappointing - there is a counter with stools but not enough space for 4 adults to comfortably eat together which was a shame as the house was otherwise very spacious. Cots & highchair provided which was a plus. Thanks for a nice stay.

The only negative we have is the lack of comfy outdoor furniture and a BBQ. We had great weather and would have been great to eat outside

  • "Fabulous property - really clean and in a great location!"

We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and our welcome hamper - a thoughtful touch. The only minor negative was that we couldn’t get the outdoor light to work (maybe the bulb had gone?) and we weren’t sure what to do with our recycling. But we had a great time and wanted to stay longer - hopefully we will be booking again!

  • "Beautiful house, lovely location."

Modern facilities. Cosy. Great hamper on arrival with all the basics. We had a week of heavy rain and winds but still had an amazing time! We’d love to stay again. Tip: Take logs, kindling and matches for the log burner-enough was provided for two fires (but no matches at all) Tip: Take flip flops to walk to and from the wonderful hot tub. Big towels and dressing gowns are provided. No guest book, so here are some tips for during your stay: Science and Media Museum in Bradford worth a visit, there’s a great cafe called cake Ole very close by-we loved that cafe and they also have branches in two local towns. Golden Acre Park in Leeds for a walk Esholt Woods in the village just behind the Woolpack pub (couple of minutes walk from the house) Saltaire to visit Salts Mill was great (and free!) Harrogate for a wander Leeds for shopping Cow and Calf at Ilkey - wear good shoes, lots of rocks.

  • "Thank you so much for a lovely stay!"

I really appreciated his well thought out your property was and the little extras such as the hamper, kitchen equipment and things that you may forget to bring! It had all been very well thought out! Your property is stunning, location stunning and we really appreciated how you had switched on the hot tub for us and had the property well lit for us when we arrived. We absolutely loved our stay and would stay again. Only thing is downstairs had been a little chilly and we couldn’t seem to get the downstairs heater to switch on or to get to a high enough temperature...still an amazing stay though!

Overall, a well equipped and meticulously thought out property allowing for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was great and the log burner was just what was needed for a winter stay. Nice to have Christmas decorations during the stay. Eye for detail was impressive throughout property and it is clearly a well looked after property. Welcome hamper and basics including milk, ice, cleaning equipment, etc was a really nice touch. If there were was any room for improvement, then potentially new mattresses for the beds for optimal comfort. However, we cannot fault this stay. We really enjoyed our time at Cunliffe Barn and would highly recommend to all, 10/10

  • "The cottage we stayed in was absolutely what we were looking for ."

... comfortable , well equipped and perfect for a lazy weekend for just the two of us. The only points we would flag up are about the hot tub . Which was one of the main reasons we book this cottage as we didn’t want to do anything all weekend. We would have appreciated the hot tub to have been ready to be used on our first afternoon at the cottage but it wasn’t ready until the Saturday morning. Also having spent most of Saturday in the hot tub we both found that three days later and numerous showers we are still really itchy and my partners skins has been really affected in some areas. We feel there must have been too much chlorine used? It smelt very strong but presumed it was normal at the time. This didn’t ruin our stay but we thought it worth letting you know just incase it happens to someone else.

Tastefully decorated and well equipped. Photos very accurate of the property. Great location from being in the village and overlooking the fields to being near to many towns, attractions and countryside and moors. Suggest mention in details there is second toilet with basin downstairs as useful to know. And although we realise this is more recent the Woolpack Pub in the village closed early March 2020 and it was only through some facebook posts I found that I realised this just before we visited. It was due to be taken over by new tenants but then COVID happened so it is currently not open and no plans to open I believe for the time being. We would love to go back and would definitely recommend Cunliffe Barn.

The owners have done an amazing job converting this once derelict barn into a superb holiday home. It was an absolute privilege to spend a lovely week here in February - even the weather was very kind to us. Everything we needed and more was provided and the wine, hamper and all the little extras were very welcome. We used the hot tub every day and every evening we relaxed in front of the log burner. The village of Esholt is delightful and we visited The Woolpack several times. There are some nice walks through the woods and Shipley and Guiseley provide all the shopping facilities. We met Helen the owner the day before we left and she was lovely and friendly. I have already recommended Cunliffe Barn to all our friends and family and we will most certainly be back!

It was due to the property being empty the week before because once the property got up to temperature it was lovely. They have got one room with 2 nice chairs and the log fire, which was lovely but I felt it was a wasted room as you couldn't do anything but read,we took a jigsaw but there was no table so you were unable to have a drink as there was no where to put it. I thought it would of been better with the tv and settee in there as when the fire was on it was absolutely lovely and cosy. Also could do with some various size dishes suitable for the oven. Last but not least lack of imformation for local attractions and local walks.

The cottage itself is beyond stunning, a definite 20 out of 10. The exterior and interior has been done to a 10* standard and the only down side is you don’t want to leave the cottage to enjoy the area! It was even a struggle to go into the garden to use the lovely hot tub. You are within 30 minutes of the Yorkshire Dales/Moors and 5 minutes walk from the famed Emmerdale “Wooloack” pub which serves delicious food. The owner Helen is super friendly, helpful and welcoming and really wants her guests to have the best time. If you are thinking of booking this cottage, I promise you will not be disappointed but will definitely not want to leave.

Staying at Cunliffe Barn really will provide guests with the feeling that they are in a home away from home, and its two sitting rooms really emphasise this.

Both contain comfortable seating, but they differ in what else is on offer, the first features a beautiful woodbuner, an ideal spot during the winter months.

While the second which forms part of the open-plan living area features a Smart TV and also a radio, which helps to bring you and your loved ones closer together.

Situated behind is the stylish kitchen/diner, complete with breakfast bar.

The final room on the ground floor is the utility room.

Upstairs are the property’s two double bedrooms, both of which provide views overlooking the garden, a nice way to start your day.

Also located on the first floor is the bathroom.

Relaxation continues to be the main theme as you open up the doors to the garden, as located at the end of it is the hot tub, so after a nice meal, why not take the party outside and maybe indulge in a glass of bubbly?

There’s also a patio area with a table and chairs should you fancy an alternative to dining on the breakfast bar.

Located just a six-minute walk from Cunliffe Barn is The Woolpack pub, which guests may know from the hit television series Emmerdale.

Despite its fame, the pub is open to the public and it offers a good range of food and drinks, so whether you’re a fan of the show or not, it’s still well worth visiting.

About the location

ESHOLT

Bradford 6 miles; Leeds 12 miles

Esholt is a quaint little village resting peacefully between Shipley and Guiseley, in the metropolitan district of the City of Bradford. Interestingly, the village was once used to film scenes for the soap opera 'Emmerdale' from 1976 to 1997, until they moved to a purpose built replica of Esholt, on the Harewood Estate; pleasant walks amble through the village, where you can stop off for a refreshing drink at the local pub on the way; The Woolpack, once used for filming, is situated in the heart of Esholt, serving delicious drinks, food and a friendly atmosphere. Close by is the West Yorkshire town of Shipley, situated near Bradford, with the River Aire running through. Saltaire, a village located in Shipley is a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site and it is famous for the Victorian era Salts Mill, which can be found close to the River Aire. The thriving city of Leeds is further afield with many shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as many attractions worth a visit including Harewood House, Roundhay Park and Kirkstall Abbey, while the North Yorkshire Dales are 16 miles to the north, a vast area of beauty encompassing thousands of square miles of far-reaching moors, rolling valleys and charm-filled villages.
