  • "Ideal location in Skipton, short walk to town centre and all the facilities."

Well equipped, with nice bright kitchen. Would certainly stay again.

  • "Loved our stay."

The property is in a really convenient location but in a really quiet area. Once our car was parked up we didn’t need to use it as there is lots to do and visit on foot. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of Skipton. We have enjoyed a peaceful week exploring the local area and can’t wait to return.

  • "Absolutely fabulous stay - it made our Christmas (thanks for the tree/wreath and other festive decorations)."

The cottage was incredibly clean and had such good facilities. It's also in a quiet area, but still just a 5min walk from the centre of Skipton. Loads of great places to eat and, if like us, you aren't travelling by car there's good train/bus services to other wonderful Yorkshire locations. We loved it so much, we're returning to Acorn Cottage in May with my sister and her husband, who are visiting from Australia. Thank you!

  • "Beautifully clean cottage!"

It was good to have the two bathrooms as we shared with another couple. The kitchen was very well equipped and it wa stood to have a little outside space. The cottage was very quiet at night as there was no passing traffic yet it was only a short walk in to town. The host left a lovely welcome pack and had tried to think of everything we might need cleaning wise.

Great location and parking easy. Two lovely long sofas! Very clean. Lovely welcome basket for humans and dog! Kitchen spacious, only problem was that microwave was in an awkward position. High up and hard to reach over counter! Bedrooms great and bonus of two bathrooms. Will definitely book again.

Acorn Cottage was spotless, the welcome pack for us and for our dog Tilly was a lovely touch. Facilities/equipment fantastic, everything we could need for our stay. Boot room excellent idea too, we were able to clean our muddy walking boots and then use the shoe drier so they were ready for the next walk! Service excellent from the lady who manages the property, had the minor problem with the light in the en-suite resolved really quickly and kept us up to date throughout. So thank you to her too (sorry, signal is want great when we spoke, so couldn’t hear her name properly) Short walk into town, really quiet road too. Parking is first come, first served but we had no problems at all in getting to park outside the property. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad that you had a good time. We put in place that later check-in to allow more time for cleaning, and then for the house to air out, during Covid. However, you are right, now that things are back to normal we will go back to a 3:30pm check in. If you are ever back up around Skipton, we hope you will consider staying again. It was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack with milk in the fridge was wonderful after a long time on the road. The cleaner really cares about the property and you can tell it’s well looked after and loved . We were able to park in the road easily and there was a lovely doggy welcome aswell. The back yard was little sun trap in the afternoon and people around were so friendly and welcoming . The cottage was beautifully and tastefully decorated and designed with fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble drier , microwave ,Alexa , dishwasher and a fabulous monsoon shower ! The kitchen diner was bright and airy and very well equipped and the information pack and board were really informative and useful. Everything had been thought of to make the cottage special . It was in a great location ( 5 minutes ) for walking into town either down a slope or the easy steps . There were great dog walking opportunities though the wood, the paddock and Wilderness all within a few minutes and going down the slope took you close to the canal for more walks . It was a also a great location for travelling to different places Grassington, Settle, Ilkley, Harrogate, Gargrave , the Yorkshire Peaks, Malham. We loved walking along the canal and really liked Skipton and the market . It was a wonderful place to stay at Acorn Cottage and we were sad to leave but look forward to staying again.

It only takes about five minutes to walk into the town but it is on a hill and then you have to go down steps so not suitable if walking is a problem. It is in a good location for visiting the local area, Grassington is worth a visit and Burnsall is lovely to take children for a picnic by the river as they can play in the river.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel.
