  • "Andy the owner, was very attentive."

He phoned us the day before our holiday, and said to call him for anything we needed. We have stayed in several areas of Yorkshire, and found Skipton to be a perfect location. Being right on the canal was heaven for gongoozlers like us. Plenty of places to eat and things to do, without needing to travel far. We will be back.

Thanks Karen, so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back some time in the future. Thanks Andy Property Owner

  • "Good value property in an excellent location!"

Brighter reading lights would be an improvement. The 'back garden' area between the cottage and the canal seems really wasted but maybe this is beyond the owner's control.

Thanks for your feedback Mark and yes the land doesn't belong to our cottage. Take on board your comment regarding reading light thank you Property Owner

  • "Great location."

Parking was easier than expected but there seemed to be a large area at the rear of the property which would have been nice if it was accessible. We had a problem with the bathroom taps in that they opened in different directions and we kept getting it wrong and as the water pressure is very good it kept pouring over the front of the basin! As mentioned in the visitors book, it would be good to get the ariel fixed in the main bedroom and put a TV in there. We had a problem with the beds as we are used to a firm mattress and these were soft and at our age, caused back problems. They may be fine for others. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay and loved Skipton.

Thanks for your feedback Manton and glad you enjoyed your stay Property Owner

Stayed Monday-Friday and had a great experience, master bedroom very large and views of the canal boats passing by fantastic someone mentioned the decor but the vicinity outweighs there dislike will definitely return and certainly recommend. Skipton Castle woods is a lovely walk and afternoon tea on the canal boat was lovely but book in advance as very popular.

  • "We had such a lovely week at The cottage."

It’s comfortable and there’s plenty of space. would stay here again. It’s in a GREAT location. Lovely views. I really enjoyed the stay. But When I first looked at the photos I took it off my list. The master bedroom decor is…I’m sorry. I’ve never been so honest about Things but really. It’s hideous! I didn’t want to stay there but circumstances changed and I had to be in Skipton and this was the only available place for my dates. I had no choice!! I can see why they don't decorate…because it’s always full. Why would they close up when they have bookings? And. Why is no one mentioning how bad the bedroom decor is?? I have told lots of friends snd family about it but it’s always been with a side note….lovely place. Great location. But wait till you see the bedroom! I would like to stay here again but I’d love it if I didn’t have to look at that bedroom decor…go neutral!

Thanks for your feedback and we are glad that you found the property comfy and spacious and in a great location. I can confirm the main bedroom wallpaper is good quality and in good condition. We appreciate decor is subjective but the pictures on the advert are an accurate reflection so that guests can make an informed decision at the time of booking as to whether a property decor suits them. Everything we needed and more. Overlooking the canal with its ducks and feisty swans (spring is in the air and the senior swan was chasing off the juveniles). Easy access to town centre, canal walks. morrisons and Tesco just over the canal and to the right.

Thanks for your kind comments Mike and really glad you enjoyed your time in the cottage. Property Owner

  • "One of the most comfortable cottages we've stayed in - rooms very spacious, good storage in bedrooms, bed and lounge suite very comfortable indeed."

Port Merion crockery a nice surprise. BIG brownie points for toiletries caddy in shower - first time we're seen this in a holiday let! Only two negative points (1) Stairs are steep and definitely need a second banister stretching from upstairs landing down to small, ground floor one and (2) Cupboard with ironing board etc too hard to open - just needs some easing. If owner could fix these two things, we'd happily visit again or recommend to our daughter (thanks to cancer treatment she has no strength in left arm and wouldn't be able to climb the stairs),

Thanks so much for your positive feedback which is great for us to be able to further enhance visits to the cottage Property Owner

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel.
