“The lock on the toilet door needs replacing as one of our party locked himself in!”

But otherwise it was a cosy comfortable cottage in a great location. Would visit again.

The property

Settled in the centre of the action in the lively North Yorkshire town of Skipton is this delightful mid-terrace cottage, Ewe Cottage.

Enjoying a quirky layout with walls at an angle, it boasts both character and charm, and provides a family or group with a fabulous base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Enter through the blue painted door and come into the neat and homely sitting room, where a woodburning stove takes centre stay within a rustic brick fireplace, and sofas invite you to settle down and enjoy a film on the large TV with your nearest and dearest amidst, offering a lovely way to end an adventure-filled day.

Move into the attractive kitchen/diner which is home to a range of appliances to help you rustle up a feast for all, with an electric oven and a gas hob among them; when it's your turn to cook invite the rest of the party to keep your company in the kitchen with a bottle of wine as they gather at the dining table.

After a challenging trek in the Dales treat yourself to a long soak in the large corner bath, offering the perfect way to relax.

Settle down for the night in one of the three charming bedrooms, choosing from a roomy double bedroom with a convenient fitted wardrobe storage, a second double bedroom with the bed tucked between the angled walls, and a neat single bedroom with hanging space, all boasting crisp white bed linen and neutral hues.

The town of Skipton is known as the 'Gateway to the Dales' lying conveniently below the beloved national park, it offers a wide array of shops, both local businesses and your well-known favourites, as well as a lovely selection of pubs and eateries offering the perfect pit-stops to refuel.

Explore the park via foot and pass through the lovely villages along the way like Malham, Grassington and Kettlewell as you head deeper into the heart of the Dales, experiencing beautiful natural landscapes along the way.

For a homely retreat to return to after outdoor adventures in Yorkshire, choose Ewe Cottage.
