  • "Absolutely stunning property, perfectly clean and well maintained with what appeared to be brand new carpets and mattresses."

    Also a perfect lay out for our group and located so close to the town centre and large Tesco. Large Tesco approx 5 min walk if that and town 10 mins walk away max via road or canal. Skipton beautiful with an abundance of pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants and shops as well as the castle, church, park and canals for scenic walking.

    Only a short stroll into Skipton town centre and supermarkets. Car parking not a problem with ample room on local streets and a space immediately behind the property for one car.We felt extremely comfortable throughout our stay.

  • "We had a lovely stay, and would happily visit again if an occasion arises."

    We liked the location near the centre of Skipton and the comfort of the house: very good for 3 couples / 6 adults. The neighbours made no fuss about us parking nearby behind the house (you need a slim car), even though the space for 61 was taken. We missed not having (or being able to find) a tea-pot.

  • "1.Sykes cottages cancellation policy - Like most holiday companies like Expedia etc, more clear depiction and information needs to be given to customer about your cancellation policy and options of cancellation to customers."

    2. Insurance : Not entirely sure until now what the Tower insurance company actually covers? If it does not even cover or include a last minute cancellation policy? 3. The cottage was very good and idyllic location. Few dishwasher tablets could have been provided and basic salt and pepper, and few portions of sugar on the table would have been nice 4. The owners have been very mindful with all amenities and linen etc. Their welcome hamper was really nice and a warm gesture from them. Would highly recommend their cottage for future visitors to family and friends

About the location

SKIPTON

Grassington 9 miles; Harrogate 20 miles.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
