“Spinners Nest was in a great location, just a short stroll into town or a walk down the canal.”

The house was comfortable and in the current climate, had everything you could need in terms of plates, cutlery etc. In the main the house was very clean, but some areas had clearly been missed (dust on walls by the bed in the main rooms and cobwebs etc.) but there’ll see are minor issues and wouldn’t stop us staying again. The house is located in a really nice and peaceful residential area with shops just over the bridge, including a Spar, Fish and Chips etc. Had a lovely week and will hopefully be back again in the not distant future.

The property

A superb stone-built, mid-terrace cottage set in a quiet area of Skipton, close to the canal, just a four minute walk from the main high street.

Styled and lovingly furnished by the current owner, this Skipton cottage provides an ideal holiday home to get together and enjoy the many delights of Skipton, known as The Gateway to the Dales.

Combining contemporary furnishings with the ageless charm of this traditional Yorkshire cottage, this holiday home offers a spacious sitting room with dining area, an inset electric fire and leather suite.

A well-equipped kitchen with electric range cooker and open staircase leads to the first floor, where you will find three bedrooms and a bathroom.

About the location

Grassington 9 miles; Harrogate 20 miles.

Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008 the Academy of Urbanism voted the High Street the best shopping spot in Britain, and The Copper Dragon/Greyhawk Brewery is highly rated in the CAMRA listings. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
