The rest of the property is great with all rooms being if really good size . My only gripe and its me only that the pillows are to hard for my liking . The position of the property is amazing with all what you want within minutes walk, loved it . A massive bonus is the parking . Will love to stay here again in the future . It has everything you need and the bed is so comfy it's difficult to get out some mornings. The log burner is amazing and gives so much heat and the logs to buy are not expensive. The shops are so close and there are some amazing walks about which is why we are back every year. Thanks John

  • "We found the cottage cold, particularly in the evenings."

The central heating thermostat set at 18.5, came on at 10ish in the evening and went off at 8 am. The gas fire had been replaced by a wood burner. (When we booked the cottage it clearly showed a gas fire.) A complimentary half pack of kiln dried wood, kindling and firelighters had been left for us, which we used on the first night. On the Sunday we went to the shops looking to find wood for the evening and quickly realised how expensive it was going to be to heat the one room. £9.99 for a bag of 10 logs. We had used the 5 logs left to us the night before, plus kindling and firelighters. As the weather had turned cold, first frost of the season we sat with our dogs blankets around us in the evenings till Wednesday. We decided to cut our losses and returned home. It was October, we're experienced walkers and the weather is not a problem, but it becomes a problem when you return to your base and can't warm up. On the plus side the cottage was close to the high Street and the canals for walking. The cottage was clean and I'm sure in warmer months would be classed as cosy.

Really strange feedback here … Hopefully the points below will shed some light for future customers. - Wasn’t a cold week at all no frost what so ever. - Customers never contacted me about the heating situation during their stay - 1 bedroomed cottage with a log burner and full central heating so not sure how much more heating can be provided. - Central heating has a constant setting which wasn’t utilised. - Customers didn’t want to purchase further fuel for the log burner. - I live 10 minutes away so can vouch for the weather during their stay. I have been an owner for over 20 years and appreciate its difficult to please all customers all of the time but I believe this feedback is somewhat unwarranted. Thank you. Property Owner

One point to bear in mind the cottage is in a location behind the high street, follow the directions supplied and it is easy to find. My advice is to ignore your sat-nav as ours wanted us to go through a very tight alleyway!

The canal's were virtually on our doorstep, a lovely walk along the tow path with the dog, morning and evening. Great communication from the owner, also very friendly. Skipton is a lovely town in a lovely part of North Yorkshire. We would highly recommend Town cottage and hope to return there.

Everywhere is so dog friendly and the canal walks are great. We enjoyed a few canal side drinks just watching the boats go by. Thoroughly recommend the nearest pub, The Royal Shepherd, for food. The cottage is small and perfect and the dedicated parking is a huge bonus. So many places to visit including Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks, both National Trust and dog friendly. The owner, John rang me when we were en route, to say that the cottage was ready early for us. Very kind of him.

Town Cottage is a clean comfortable cottage. Small compact well equipped kitchen. Hob, washer, freezer, fridge, combi microwave. WiFi if needed and great little TV. Car parking on site. Private courtyard, turn right out the kitchen door and you are a minute from the high street and market through a small ginnel. Turn left out the ginnel, the castle and church are less than 10 minutes to walk, or longer if you stop to look at the shops or market stalls ( on market days). Turn left out of the property and you are a couple of minutes from the canal, boat trips, walks. Lots of choice to eat out, pubs, restaurants, cafés, takeaways Dog friendly cafés, where you and your four legged friends are treated well. Turn back into the courtyard and it's peace and quiet. Small gated area to sit out. If you do wish to drive out you'll be spoilt for choice. But great to park up at the cottage and walk local. Lots of courtyards and ginnels to explore in Skipton. A warm Yorkshire welcome wherever you visit! Can recommend, in Skipton, Bistro Des Amis, Kibble dog cafe, The Elsworth Kitchen, Bizzie Lizzie's Fish and chips.

  • "We had a fabulous time in this dog friendly cottage."

We had private parking right outside door- parking can be hard to find in Skipton! I have mobility issues and could still get to High Street in 4 minutes max from cottage, and the individual shops, restaurants, pubs, etc abound down every side street and along canal. They all serve fantastic grub and are 95% dog friendly! The cottage itself was all that we needed. Fantastically comfortable bed, huge bathroom - bath and separate shower, plus they provided a nonslip bath/shower mat which many places don’t. Outside space to sit and equipped for anyone who likes to cook - we don’t prefer cooking on holiday, but did use toaster, oven to warm plates for Bizzie Lizzie fish and chips, and frying pan one morning for eggs. Cottage was exceptionally clean - not a lot more to say EXCEPT we hope to return there next year, if not before!

Electric hob rather than gas would be safer as it is very close to the door. A dishwasher rather than a washing machine would save all the faffing at the sink with trays and drainer etc. a smaller fridge and a proper oven.

Thank you for your feedback. This is a one bedroomed holiday let with not enough kitchen space for every single appliance one may find in larger kitchens. The majority of customers prefer a washing machine as opposed to a dishwasher and do not find utilising the sink an issue. Property Owner

  • "Town Cottage, Skipton."

The plus points - central for all amenities, and private parking spot, which is rare in the middle of Skipton. The lounge and bedroom more than adequate for your needs. Downsides - kitchen very small, would be awkward to use to cook regular meals, and it’s inner door would not shut fully causing draughts.. The pipework was noisy when running taps, kitchen tap spluttered and water doused the worktop. TV and Freesat volume issues, could not change channels without a concern, as very high on HD channels and low on normal ones, and also sub titles constantly displaying on IPlayer. The low light of the week was Tuesday when the shower decided to give alternating scalding and freezing output. Informed the owner, who could not get anyone to replace it until Saturday. As the bath was unsuitable for me, due to arthretic knees, a stand-up wash was the only answer. Mainly due to later point we departed a day early.

Thank you for your feedback. The shower was fully replaced within 4 days which was as quick as I could purchase and arrange fitting. The bath was available but I was never made aware of your arthritic knees. Property Owner

A minute walk and your right on the high street. Cottage was lovely, kitchen was very small but you can get around that. What can I say cottage was lovely for two. Directions to the cottage don’t take in the fact the High Street is closed on the Saturday Markets so needs to be taken into consideration. Only thing that fully stopped our enjoyment to the full was this COvID pandemic. In normal times our holiday would have been amazing. Would we recommend this cottage…that’s a big YES.
