“Weaver's Cottage was perfect for our week in Yorkshire - we had a wonderful time, rather wet but restful all the same.”
As we prefer not to drive, we always look for properties within walking distance of train/bus links and Weaver's Cottage was about a ten minute walk from both the station and bus station in Skipton - not too far to carry our bags, and plenty of taxis at the station if we'd been feeling lazy.
The house was very easy to find - really clear directions and instructions provided. We had lots of helpful text information from the owner/caretaker which was both welcoming and reassuring - if there had been a problem (which there wasn't) we'd have been able to get help.
The house was beautifully warm and clean when we arrived - bedding, towels, kitchen equipment - especially pleased to find a cafetiere, cleaning things and hand wash - it all makes life so much easier when you don't have to shop for these things just for a week. It was lovely that someone had taken the trouble to put up some charming Christmas decorations - a really sweet touch.
The beds were very comfortable, the sitting room was too - wifi was great and tv easy to use. The weather was pretty wet so it was good to have hard floors all through the ground floor - no worries about ruining carpets. We didn't use the stove as we didn't have any means of getting more wood other than carrying it, but a starter kit of wood and kindling was provided.
Skipton and the surrounding area are quite lovely, the people friendly, interesting shops, lots of places to eat - we loved the Two Sisters. Lots of walking - the Castle Woods in Skipton, the tow path to Gargrave, and in and around Malham, Settle and Bentham.
A friendly, warm, comfortable, nicely furnished and well looked after place to stay on a quiet street within easy walking distance of Skipton town centre.
