  • “The owners of the property were very friendly and helpful.”

They rectified an issue we had within a few days of arriving, and the problem was fixed quickly and without any hassle or fuss. I would be more than happy to stay here again in the future.

The property

Found in a tranquil and leafy suburb, Lister Cottage is positioned in a marvellous location for exploring the town of Halifax and the wider areas of West Yorkshire.

Located on the grounds of the owner’s property alongside three other charismatic properties, this cottage holds a lot of history; an old converted coach house once owned by Judge James Pickles and has appeared on Through the Key Hole in 1990, it now stands as a quirky holiday cottage for you and your family.

Walk past the coach house doors and through the front doors of the property; unpack your belongings and gather in the spacious sitting room to concoct a plan for the day, whether you take a stroll into town or simply explore the wooded outlook behind the property with the dog, this cottage is in the perfect location for a holiday packed with action.

Lister Cottage hosts ample amenities for you to spend quality time with your loved ones; head to the dining room to enjoy some home-cooked dinner prepared in the bright and white kitchen before heading to the sitting room to kick back with a glass of wine while the kids play games in the downstairs bedroom; doubling up as a sofa and a day bed it’s the perfect place for the kids to unwind in their own private space.

In the summer months, open up the patio doors in the ground-floor bedroom and let in the fresh air as the dog roams around freely on the large lawned area at the back.

The area of Halifax offers something for all weathers and times of the year, head into the town to discover its vibrant aura, with a theater and playhouse, a children’s museum, cinema, historical landmarks and a wide array of shops and restaurants to indulge in, it offers something for everyone no matter when you visit this magnificent minster town.

Slightly further afield you can find the equally bustling towns of Bradford and Huddersfield, with Bradford offering an intriguing museum of the National Science and Media Museum, The Brontë Parsonage Museum, and the Bradford Industrial Museum.

Huddersfield presents the beautifully scenic areas of Castle Hill, Greenhead Park and St. George’s Square, there’s no better place to unwind and experience culture in tranquil settings.

Lister Cottage is the perfect property for a large group looking for an action-packed adventure in West Yorkshire.

Halifax is a minster town in West Yorkshire historically known for its woollen manufacturing starting in the 15th century. Now it stands as one of the best spots to observe Georgian and Victorian landmarks, including Piece Hall, a Grade I listed building boasting unique architecture and a lot of history surrounding the past industries of the area. Surrounded by the Calderdale Industrial Museum, Halifax Central Library, and a wide selection of eateries and shops to explore, this historical landmark makes a great focal point for your trip in the town. Halifax offers something for everyone; the Eureka! National Children's Museum promises a fun-filled day out for all the family, whereas the two theatres of Victoria Theatre and Halifax Playhouse offer a great opportunity to get involved in culture and watch fantastic performances. Just a short drive away you will stumble across the bustling city of Bradford, the world's first UNESCO City of Film, be sure to visit the National Science and Media Museum, along with diving into the culture of Britain's 'curry capital' and dining in a delicious Indian restaurant. If you head south you will find Huddersfield, with its Lawrence Batley Theatre, art gallery and various historical landmarks, it also offers ample opportunities to immerse yourself in a cultural experience. Close to the vibrant city of Leeds and surrounded by plenty of action and activity, Halifax makes a brilliant base for exploring the wonders of West Yorkshire.
