  • "Cottage was immaculate, with not a speck of dust anywhere."

It has character, but facilities and features are very modern. (Lovely old thick walls, with new, top quality windows!). There’s no mention or photograph from Sykes, of the second bedroom, so we were expecting a small room/bed. Not so ... It’s a comfy single bed, to complement the main bedroom. Interesting local artefacts and books are provided. There are plenty of places to visit, within a short drive, though they were still subject to lockdown (indoor) restrictions. So we spent many cosy hours, watching telly, and reading! It’s surrounded by fields, so the views are nice. There are several public footpaths, immediately from the cottage. They’re not signed well, though the hosts and locals are pleased to advise. Don’t miss the walk across the viaduct. Worth knowing, is that ten minutes across the fields, is a bus stop. Frequent buses will take you to Bradford, or Keighley, as an option to taking the car. The hosts are such lovely people, and we had some great conversations. Always available for questions, but never intrusive. The welcoming gifts were extraordinary! A truly memorable stay.

The cottage was exceptional in all aspects, warm, cosy, very well maintained to a very high standard, fitted through out with everything anyone would need for a short or long stay, like we had. John and Bev, the owners were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We arrived on a wet, blustery dark late afternoon, and Bev was there to greet us. This was our first time in a holiday cottage booked through Sykes Cottages. We had been recommended to use them through my auntie, uncle and family, who use them 2 - 3 times a year. A great recommendation as we couldn't fault them at all, and we have only had praises when we talk to family and friends, about the company. The cottage is in a really good location for those people wanting to visit, Haworth, Halifax and it's famous Piece Hall and Shibden Hall, Skipton, Bolton Abbey and many more places of interest. Unfortunately things come to an end, and we had to leave, to go back to everyday life! But we will always remember John and Bev and their kindness and hospitality. Elaine and Michael Collinson
