  • “Lovely little cottage with pretty, enclosed garden for dogs and sitting out (weather permitting).”

The Old Hall Inn staff are welcoming, friendly and go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. The food at the pub is outstanding. Lots of choice and generous portions, all expertly cooked. Will definitely be going back. Again. Well done Phil and the team.

The property

Within the charming village of Threshfield, sat within the wonderful Yorkshire Dales National Park, is this Grade II listed detached cottage, Monks Cottage.

Resting within its own grounds next to the Old Hall Inn, a longstanding pub, in the heart of this quaint village, it is suitable for a couple’s break.

The history of the property can be traced back to its construction by monks in the 13th century, it is reputedly the oldest habitable building in Upper Wharfdale.

Now lovingly renovated to provide beautiful holiday accommodation, the ground floor is set out in an open-plan layout, a great way to enjoy the company of your loved one while you wind down in your own way.

Light the woodburning stove, which rests in the inglenook fireplace on a cold evening and relax on the sofa, while your partner begins to prepare the evening meal for a quiet and romantic night in, surrounded by a host of original features including exposed beams, stone flooring and stone walls.

Relish in this rustic and traditional environment as you sit at the dining table to eat, afterwards sitting down to plan the rest of your trip.

Rest in the king-size bed up in the galleried bedroom on the first floor, with a bathroom located half way up the stairs offering conveniences within this older exterior.

Centrally located in this beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, there are superb walks from the doorstep, including a short walk along the river to Linton Falls and the ever popular Grassington with its wide range of shops, pubs and art galleries, as well as the Dickensian Festival, which delights visitors with its traditional Christmas market and entertainment.

A beautiful Threshfield holiday cottage, ideal for a romantic break, whatever the time of year.

About the location

Grassington 1 mile; Skipton 7 miles.

Threshfield is a small village in Upper Wharfedale bordering the nearby villages of Grassington, Linton, Hetton, Cracoe and Rylstone, home of the famous ‘Calendar Girls’. Threshfield is a thriving local community. A few minutes drive is Grassington, one of the most charming villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where you will find traditional stone cottages, galleries, restaurants and shops, which are clustered around the cobbled market place, plus a monthly farmers' market provides a mouthwatering range of organic and homemade local produce. Visitors can experience the delight of both the Grassington Festival held in June and the Dickensian Festival during December – both well worth a visit. Situated on the River Wharfe, with the extensive Grass Woods to the north of the village, this is a superb walking area. Down dale is Bolton Abbey, the Priory and the famous “Strid Walk”, whilst a little further away is the elegant town of Ilkley, overlooked by the famous Ilkley Moor, plus up dale are Kettlewell and Buckden boasting spectacularly beautiful limestone scenery. With many other beauty spots scattered throughout Wharfedale, Threshfield provides a great base for exploring the local area and all that the Dales have to offer, with Brontë Country and York also being within easy motoring distance.
