    “Beautiful Dales Escape”

Pemba Cottage is set to tick all the boxes. My family stayed here in what can only be described as the windiest & wettest half term ever, however my critism of my week in Threshfield stops there. The cottage was all prepared to welcome us as we arrived on friday evening, local fare on the table to keep us going till supper was a lovely surprise. I can't think of one thing that John & Nikki haven't thought of that their guests may need, it is simply home from home. ...

I will note some hi-lights for me. The main bedroom has a super king bed and offers an amazing nights sleep, although it is dark 'out in the sticks' the dark blinds and curtains ensure you don't rise too early. All the bedding was spotless and fresh. It was incredibly quiet (apart from the wind!) The kitchen offers every appliance needed to be able to support a self catering couple / family break. The kitchen table big enough to allow the 4 of us to eat our meals, but without cramming the room. A big plus for me was that although the kitchen doesn't appear massive, there is plenty of cupboard space allowing guests to put their own groceries away, rather than leaving them out on the side. The living room was spacious with a lovely wood buring stove. We visited 'The Old Hall' a couple of times during our stay, it was fairly quiet but its proximity to the cottage makes it ideal for food & drink. Local Spar shop is 5 minutes away and is well stocked. We hope that our next stay in Pemba Cottage will be in the sunshine....

The property

An outstanding stone-built, semi-detached cottage, located on a quiet lane just off the village green in the very heart of the village of Threshfield, just 1 mile from Grassington and 7 miles from Skipton.

This superb cottage provides excellent holiday accommodation in the centre of one of the most popular villages in the Yorkshire Dales and was once home to Miss July of Calendar Girls fame.

Full of character and charm throughout, with old beams and exposed stone work, a warm and cosy sitting room with a lovely woodburning stove greets guests as they walk through the front door.

A splendid farmhouse-style kitchen is a real delight with all those extra touches that will ensure a great stay at this cottage.

The spacious master bedroom is a beautiful room, with individual styling and a double bed, making this an ideal romantic retreat.

The second twin room and modern shower room are the icing on the cake for this excellent holiday home.

The village has much to offer, with lovely walks down to the river and across beautiful countryside to nearby Grassington, where there is an excellent local pub, renowned for its real ales and fine varied menu.

THRESHFIELD

Grassington 1 mile; Skipton 7 miles.

Threshfield is a small village in Upper Wharfedale bordering the nearby villages of Grassington, Linton, Hetton, Cracoe and Rylstone, home of the famous ‘Calendar Girls’. Threshfield is a thriving local community. A few minutes walk away is Grassington, one of the most charming villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where you will find traditional stone cottages, galleries, restaurants and shops, which are clustered around the cobbled market place, plus a monthly farmers' market provides a mouthwatering range of organic and homemade local produce. Visitors can experience the delight of both the Grassington Festival held in June and the Dickensian Festival during December – both well worth a visit. Situated on the River Wharfe, with the extensive Grass Woods to the north of the village, this is a superb walking area. Down dale is Bolton Abbey, the Priory and the famous “Strid Walk”, whilst a little further away is the elegant town of Ilkley, overlooked by the famous Ilkley Moor, plus up dale are Kettlewell and Buckden boasting spectacularly beautiful limestone scenery.
