  • "I had a fabulous stay at no 126."

The facilities were exactly as described and easy to use. The bed was probably the comfiest bed that I have slept in for a long time. There were lovely walks in the immediate area to keep me occupied but there was extremely easy access to the train station for journeys to Skipton and Gargrave. I will be booking again.

  • "Had a lovely 2 night stay."

Cottage is great! Clean, comfortable and cosy and has everything we needed. Perfect! Our dog was fast asleep within minutes of arrival! She felt very safe as she is usually anxious. We couldn’t access the WiFi but a quick text to the owner sorted that within 5 minutes. Pretty village with 2 friendly pubs. Only one pub was serving food when we stayed and on the second night they had no chef! We’d had a few drinks so couldn’t drive elsewhere, so ordered in a pizza which was delivered within 35 minutes. Altogether a relaxing pleasant weekend. Would definitely return.

  • "Location was superb as the village and surrounding areas were stunning."

The cottage was great however we were unable to award it 5 stars due to one or two issues we came across which, in our opinion, could so easily be solved. My wife and I are avid staycationers and have had 3 cottages a year for several past years mostly within the Yorkshire area, a place which we love dearly, so can speak with some experience. So initially and luckily there was enough space to park our Insignia opposite the cottage as the parking place was taken up by a resident, which wasn’t a very big issue as I didn’t want to fall out with the neighbours. For instance my wife spent some time cleaning the down stair blinds as they were thick with dust. She then applied her cleaning skills to the dirtiest shower trap we’ve ever encountered before allowing me accesss. The next issue was the mattress which, despite being an expensive Hypnos, needs changing as it’s sunk in the middle making sleep slightly awkward. Then we had continuous issues, in fact it dropped out every night, with the Wi-Fi which meant the upstairs tv was unwatchable and our tablets were unusable as an alternative! Perhaps replacing the upstairs set with one that has Freeview would be something to consider. Final and perhaps the worst issue was on the final day when my wife stripped the bed she discovered what looked like blood, perhaps from a nose bleed, on her pillows (which didn’t have pillow protectors) and a fair amount of ‘marks’ on the mattress of which one could only imagine the origins. One can forgive a lot of things but bodily fluids, especially given what we’ve all been through the last couple of years, is an absolute no-no! However that all said and with the cottage being decorated to a very high standard should these issues be addressed we’d have given it 5+ stars and booked a return trip for 2023! One of the high notes of our stay was that we learned that the cottage, at one time, belonged to Peter Armitage (who played Kevin Websters dad in Coronation Street) who sadly passed after a heart-attack in the cottage!

  • "The cottage is warm, comfortable and attractive."

It is quite small but nicely decorated, with high-end fittings and appliances. The location is excellent - Cononley is a beautiful village, with two pubs, a shop and a railway station with links to Bradford and Leeds to the south and Skipton and beyond to the north. Overall we really enjoyed our stay but there were, unfortunately, a couple of annoyances. On arrival and throughout most of the time we were there, we were unable to park in the allocated off-road parking space because it was already occupied, apparently due to a dispute. This is annoying as I imagine the stated presence of off-road parking influenced the price we paid. Then, having parked up the road we found a note placed on the windscreen one morning telling us not to park in front of a particular house...... Also, as the owners had clearly invested a lot of money in the fixtures and fittings in the cottage it seemed strange that we had to head out on day 2 to buy toilet roll and bin bags, as none were provided. Finally, eco-friendly guests might like to know that, although the cottage has a wheelie bin outside for rubbish, there was no recycling bin when we were there. On balance we would definitely stay again but I can't pretend that the above weren't irritations!

The attractive village of Cononley lies in Airedale, four miles south of Skipton. There are two pubs and a mainline railway station with links to Leeds, Skipton and the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway line. Nearby Skipton, known as "The Gateway to the Dales", has an ancient castle, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street.
