  • "The owner was very helpful."

    There was milk, coffee and tea, as well as cornflakes already there for guests when I arrived. She offered to shop for me (or take me shopping) in nearby Crosshills as the village shop was closed (re-opening this autumn), since I don't have a car. The ducks amused me, peeping in through the glass in the kitchen door when I made breakfast, and being a cat person I enjoyed seeing her cats around the garden. Some of the furniture is a bit worn but the owner replaced the dining table and chairs while I was there and they look smart. The cottage gets a lot of sun and there were many butterflies in the garden. I enjoyed staying there, especially as I have known the village for many years.

  • "It was dirty cluttered shabby throughout."

    No internet. Smelt of cats crockery and cutlery need binning what there was of it. And didn't resemble the fotos on the web in any way. Didn't complain because owner never sorted the internet problem and seemed a disorganised lady.

  • "The cottage is cosy and comfortable and ideal spot for exploring."

    The locals and the village pub are all very welcoming and even the village cat and ducks come to say hello!! The owner is lovely and cannot do enough for you making sure you have everything you need. We named this our Christmas gingerbread house as with the morning frost it looked like it had icing on the roof. Will definitely be back to visit.

The property

This recently renovated cottage is set in the village of Cononley, only four miles from Skipton, with a 17th century heritage, and amenities at walking distance.

A romantic holiday for two can be spent here, an opportunity to truly get away from it all, whether you plan on simply relaxing, or touring the characterful destination.

The outside draws you in with its collection of plants bordering the pathway, leading the way to the property entrance.

Feel right at home in the open-plan living area, attention to detail graces the layout, and quirky furnishings create somewhere unique to settle down after a long afternoon.

The sage coloured units, granite countertops, and spotlights can be admired from the comfort of the sofa, as you snuggle up amongst the warmth of the woodburning stove.

The thatched door opens up to a beautiful en-suite shower room, where you can get ready in style day after day.

Once you have relaxed indoors, why not make your way out to the patio area, your own little enclosed suntrap on a clear morning, for some well-deserved downtime.

With strolls in the village as well as more challenging walks and cycle rides into the nearby hills and up into the joy of the Yorkshire Dales, there are a wealth of activities in the countryside as well as access to wonderful towns and cities steeped in history and fascinating architecture.

Nearby Skipton, known as "The Gateway to the Dales", has an ancient castle, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street.

Enjoy a canal trip on a traditional barge or visit Embsay Steam Railway or the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

The attractive village of Cononley lies in Airedale, four miles south of Skipton.
