  • "My family of 4 plus our 4 legged friend had a wonderful stay at the Dairy cottage."

The cottage was spotless and had everything you could possibly need. Hot tub was superb. The little farm shop provided deliciously fresh and creamy milk. Beautiful location. A very calm and relaxing and cosy holiday. Thank you.

  • "Fantastic place to relax from the hustle and bustle of everyday life."

I would definitely recommend Dairy Cottage as a place to stay : well equipped internally with great outdoor spaces front and back sporting some great views...making it feel cosy yet airy, secluded yet safe with very responsive and helpful hosts if you do need anything. Esme and I are missing watching the swallows, spuggies and cows already! Thankyou for having us!

Thank you so much Judith . Delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay at The Dairy Cottage , and what it had to offer . Property Owner

  • "This cottage exceeded our expectations."

We were a group of 2 adults, 1 teen & 1 cockapoo. We all thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Gazing at the star filled sky at night, while sitting in the hot tub was memorable. The young girls who lived in the farm house were delightful, and their dogs were friendly too. One of the boys from the farm house would readily supply more wood, if required, while the girls would supply fresh eggs. This was a cozy cottage, just what we needed. We would all definitely want to return

  • "The cottage itself was lovely , clean and generally comfortable."

The beds however were not and you could feel every spring through the mattresses. The kitchen could use alittle TLC with general replacement of used items and a service of the boiler which makes incredible noise but over all it was fine for the long weekend stay. 10 / 10 for the Hot tub area .

  • "The Dairy Cottage is in a beautiful location, surrounded by great views over rolling countryside."

The setting really is stunning. Being down the lane from a working farm was great, our 3yr old enjoyed watching all the animals and tractors. The cottage itself was spotless, well equipped and all the interiors are finished to a high standard. The hot tub is a great addition and we took full advantage of the dark skies by stargazing as we relaxed in the tub. Our hosts were amazing, really couldn't have asked for more. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was one to remember. We will definitley be back and will be recommending the Dairy to our friends and family. Cant wait to come again and enjoy this beautiful place. We loved every minute.

  • "The Dairy Cottage is lovely in a great setting ,especially if you want to get away from it all."

It is so comfortable , real home from home. The hosts are extremely welcoming and helpful, even the ponies and goats are friendly. I was there with my grandsons aged 7 & 5. They gave it a trillion out of a trillion but changed this to infinity, says it all. The hot tub is an added bonus. It is remote ( we got lost , no wifi or phone reception but asked a farmer for directions)but so worth it. Ps wifi is available in the cottage.

About the location

WHITHORN

Castlewigg 2 miles; Wigtown 10.5 miles; Newton Stewart 17 miles.

The former Royal Burgh of Whithorn on the Machars Peninsula in Dumfries and Galloway is renowned for having the first recorded Christian church is Scotland. Built by St Ninian around 397, the site of the Candida Casa, or White/Shining House, is now home to the parish church. The area of Whithorn is rich in history and is also home to a medieval priory and an archaeological site. The distinctive shape of Whithorn, with its spacious central area and narrow entrance-ways of elegant Georgian houses, displays its medieval heritage. The Machars and Rhins of Galloway are also home to spectacular gardens, a result of the Gulf Stream and mild climate. Logan Botanic Gardens, the Aldouran Wetland and the spectacular gardens of Castle Kennedy are all a must see. To the north of the Machars are the Galloway Hills, offering walking to all levels as well as world class mountain biking. Golf, fishing and wildlife spotting are well catered for and the sandy beaches of Monrieth, Garlieston, and along the whole of Luce Bay will delight any visitor.
