  • "Lovely character property in great location."

Been many times and love it - it just needs a TV than can play more than a half dozen stations, and especially in winter it was disappointing that there were no logs for the wood burner on arrival, and that the central heating is so hard to keep on as the kitchen gets very cold.

Many thanks for your feedback - the log store is now full and we're buying a smart tv in response to your feedback. Thank you and look forward to welcoming you back! Property Owner

  • "Firstly a stunning property in a fantastic location but not so friendly neighbours."

Overall, in need of an update, soft furnishings, window dressings, bedding and both seatees would benefit from steam cleaning or replacement covers. Maintenance issues, both doors and all windows very cold and draughty. The kitchen was too cold to sit in, the door was difficult to operate, didn't feel secure and felt very exposed after dark without the privacy of a blind. Cooking utensils need replacing and a cupboard to store food. Found socks in the bedroom drawer and washing machine. The main tv operated on a few channels as the reception was very poor. The one bedroom is a beautiful room but poorly furnished. Whilst the bathroom looked impressive there are a few maintenance issues.Could do with a big dose of TLC.

We're sorry that the house wasn't what you expected. When we speak to guests before arrival, we explicitly ask that they let us know if there's anything we can do to help. Unfortunately, you did not contact us so we could not improve your stay. In response, we have inspected the house since you left - we have replaced some of the soft furnishings/kitchen equipment and fixed the door and window. The curtains and sofas are all clean and the central heating is working. We are happy that our house is a great house to stay in and this has been consistently the feedback from all of our other guests. Many thanks. Property Owner

Although very central the property was quiet and the lovely log burner made us feel really cosy. Haworth is a beautiful place with cobbled streets - it has lots of nice shops, pubs and eateries - was a perfect place to spend Christmas. The small courtyard was a bit of a challenge for parking.

The cottage was spacious, clean and well supplied with towels etc. in both the bathroom and kitchen. Parking was tight for a smallish car, most 4x4's would struggle. Plenty of good walks locally and lots of independent shops in the High St. Spar and Co-op at the bottom of the hill by the railway station.

It was clean and comfortable and in an extremely convenient part of Haworth. We had several days where we did not need to use the car. The Brontë parsonage museum was well worth a visit and we enjoyed the walk to the Brontë Falls. Several local pubs were very good - food at The fleece inn was reasonably priced and good. Downside was the parking - it should be noted that parking is for smaller cars. It was a struggle parking our large SUV.

It would be a good holiday let for a couple but as a possibly improvement a mattress topper for the pull out sofa bed would be an asset as without one it was a little unconformable for our grown up daughter. Car parking can be difficult with the number of cars parked in the close and the car parking space is ideal for a small car.

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook up our own food. The only Downside was the off-street parking. While it was easy enough to use when the street was clear, as soon as the neighbours parked it was impossible to get in. • "On the whole we had a good stay , however there are issues which I feel need addressing Firstly Parking , this was an absolute pain, as the designated space was not generous, we have a Mokka and only just managed to t it in, anything bigger then this it would be almost impossible, combined with the parking from the residents in the cul de sac it made for stress you did not want ."

Secondly, there needs to be more storage both in the kitchen and a wardrobe upstairs. There was only just enough space for 2 people and their clothes , not sure how 4 people would manage to put their clothes, and lack of wardrobe meant the use of hangers on a coat rack was a balancing act to prevent coat rack and clothes from falling over. The lack of storage in the kitchen meant there was little space to store food , not everyone can afford to eat out Although cottage was spotlessly clean the carpets were not and could do with a good clean It was little things like, there had obviously been a water leak at some time in the lounge but the paintwork after the leak was shoddy and not even the same colour as original, and stood out. We had an issue with the radiator in the bathroom which wasnt working , although Jake assured us he was trying to get someone to fix the issue, it meant that for the week the only way we could dry towels was by putting the heating on, and in 30 degree heat that wasnt ideal Nowhere that I could see did it state that the only toilet was on the third floor, this could be a major issue for some people with mobility issues. In the present staycation world we now live in, I feel that to sell a holiday cottage on location alone , may not be the right thing to do, people expect value for money and owners need to invest time and money in their properties.

  • "The cottage was in a great location."

However the kitchen was dark, freezing cold and smelled very badly of damp and so was unusable as a living space because of this. You had to brace yourself to head down into the kitchen as it was so cold and it made the rest of the house cold because it was open plan up to the livingroom. The central heating didn't work so you couldn't heat it up. Also the parking space was a nightmare, one of the reasons for choosing the cottage was because it had a designated space but we couldn't get the car in and out as owners round about parked all over the place and we ended up having to pay for parking for the whole week of our stay. You might be okay if you had a really tiny car but any normal.size car is not going to fit. Due to all off the above, we felt The Old Forge was very over priced accommodation in comparison to other places we have stayed.

And an added bonus was the parking space outside your door . Downsides were that it really needs a new mattress. Springs creaking and cracking when you move and bows in the middle . About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
