  • "A comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a beautiful, peaceful and remote location."

Good communication from the owner regarding issues with the roads after heavy rain caused flooding and landslips made it difficult to get there!

  • "Great weather Aug/Sept and plenty of wildlife sightings - Pine Marten, Red Squirrel, Buzzards, Sparrow Hawk, Bird feeder very good all at the cottage."

On and near the Loch, Dipper, Herons, Cormorants, Ducks, a late Osprey. Visits to Crinan, Ardfern, Arduaine Garden and Seil all very worthwhile with excellent Tea Rooms. The view of Ben Cruachan from the Loch (Awe) is great in clear conditions and with mist early am. Cottage is in a clear area of the forest also with great views.

  • "Beautiful, isolated location."

The cottage was really clean and well equipped, although the lack of wardrobes was a problem and the lack of any sort of grab handle in the bathroom to climb out of the shower was quite dangerous, especially as there is no non-slip mat in the bath. A pint of milk would also be great upon arrival as it is such a long way to Lochgilphead.

Thank you for your comment. The bath is an anti slip bath, there is a textured section that covers more than 1/2 of the base of the bath. The bath also has 2 handles on each side. We have provided milk in the past but as most people arrive supplied, it was being left in the fridge unused and then thrown out. Property Owner

  • "A thoroughly good time spent in the cottage."

All as described with all creature comforts. Very clean and tidy. Perhaps an additional set of towels would be a help as weather dependant to dry the one set , or a note to suggest only one set supplied prior to arrival. Very grateful that owners were at the end of a text for advice and tick removal ! Everything you need for a great holiday. Highly recommend this cottage.

The views from the property are beautiful even when you lie in bed it’s just fab. The drive to the property down the single track road did take about 35 minutes but that’s all part of having a nice secluded property. About the location

KILMARTIN

Crinan 7 miles; Lochgilphead 8 miles; Tarbert 21 miles; Oban 30 miles.

The village of Kilmartin sits at the heart of Kilmartin Glen, one of the most important prehistoric sites on the Scottish mainland. In the area there are rock carvings, standing stones, burial cairns and the remains of the Iron-Age fort at Dunadd, the home of the first kings of Scotland. Kilmartin is home to a church, pub, a castle and the Kilmartin House Museum with visitor centre next door, housing a café. The town of Lochgilphead is eight miles away, offering a good selection of cafes and small shops selling a range of goods, foods and crafts, while the village of Inveraray, home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, is within driving distance. Close by is Crinan Canal, which is surrounded by the stunning scenery of Argyll and Bute. From end to end the canal is nine miles long, and its sheltered waters make it an ideal place for beginners and the more experienced paddlers to explore. There are beautiful walks to be enjoyed throughout the area from Kilmichael Forest, to those at Port Ann and Dunardry and up over the hill from the stoney beach at Crinan Ferry, from where you can look out over Jura and north towards Mull. A trip to the Scottish Beaver Trail in Knapdale Forest also provides a fun family day out, plus the fishing village of Tarbert gives you superb access to all the ferry points across Kintyre that travel to Gigha, Arran, Islay and Portavadie.
