  • "It's a pity the owner didn't read and take note of the previous bad feedback comments, we stayed there over Christmas and after reading the comments just before we arrived I was hoping these would have been addressed but sadly they weren't, there were still cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, plates were chipped, the dining room chair had been repaired badly cause the leg fell off."

lots of long hair in the drain plug of the shower, the blind in the bathroom is broken and won't roll up, the window frame behind the blind is really with dirty black mold from the dampness, the skirting boards were dusty, fag ends in the ashtray outside. All this would take 30 minutes to clean and put right and stop the bad reviews, how hard can it be to keep it clean.

  • "All in all a very disappointing property."

I have stayed on this park before in a much nicer lodge. It felt very un-welcoming and neglected. Toilet seat loose in shower room - had just been left perched on the toilet bowl, toilet door doesn’t close in main bedroom, radiator in main bedroom toilet not working, double mattress very uncomfortable (also reported on previous reviews), 3 bulbs out (reported in May 23 on a previous review), outside light has energy bulb which provides no light at all, back of tv remote control stuck on with a grotty fabric plaster, no doormat at patio door (we needed to use that entrance as it was easier for my Mum to use the steps with the railings) cigarette ends left in ashtray on patio and also many on floor near side door, cobwebs, contact lense on floor of bedroom & also another stuck to chest of drawers, tea/coffee/sugar jars with dirty contents, chipped plates & mugs, information booklet 6 years out of date. This property requires some TLC and a better cleaner.

It had everything we needed and was very clean. The only improvement I recommend is a better mattress and the need to unclog the shower.

  • "The lodge was not very clean, light bulbs out in living room/kitchen area."

Shower tray not deep enough, water kept going over the top of it, soaking the floor. A soup ladle and tongs would be helpful for cooking and all the food in the cupboards removed! Cupboards in the kitchen were dirty and felt we had to clean everything before we could use it.............. your lodge needs some tlc

  • "The lodge complex was amazing great setting and base to explore Scotland."

The lodge itself was very disappointing as it is described as luxury unfortunately we disagree as it is in need of some tlc. Curtain was ripped on patio door, most carpets had stains on, the amount of cobwebs there was in the lodge had seen a feather duster for months! We had to wash stuff before we even used it! I would definitely stay at this complex again just not in this particular lodge unfortunately.

  • "We stayed here for a week in Summer."

Honestly, the lodge is fantastic. Very well decorated and immaculately kept. The owners have obviously thought carefully about what you’ll need if you’re away from home and the lodge is well stocked with equipment. The park is quiet and peaceful, yet with some green spaces for kids to play on if you have them. There is a fantastic village playground a few minutes drive if you have children with you. Location wise it’s perfect for exploring the local area such as Stirling and Falkirk, with Glasgow just an hours drive. We have a great week here and would definitely return.

Great location and very clean and modern. Had everything we needed. The only negative thing I would say is that double mattress needs replaced. Was very uncomfortable and the springs stuck into you. Apart from that it was great we would go back again

  • "On arriving we had a small problem and the site had no staff of any kind."

There was a contact number in the property but when we phoned we were told that as it was a privately owned lodge they could not help us. Two of the bulbs in the main area were not working, there was a DVD stuck in the player that would not come out using the remote, so we could not used the player while we were there, and there were no instructions for using the DVD or any other appliance anyway. The inside of the bathroom cabinets needed cleaning. The patio table was very dirty and covered in green mould, also the ash tray had cigarette ends in it. We do find it very disconcerting that Sykes hire out properties which have no on-site staff we can turn to with problems or emergencies.

  • "The lodge was generally as expected."

It's nice and spacious and feels comfortable and homely. Cleanliness could've been better, there was an ashtray full of old cigarette ends that hadn't been cleared. One of the dining room chairs was also completely broken and when we rang the site manager number in the provided pack we were told that he didn't deal with that sort of thing. In the end I rang Sykes directly and the chair was replaced. The welcome pack could also do with updating as it lists upcoming sporting events from 2017. It's not a problem but it added to a general feeling of the lodge being a bit tired and lacking some love and care. All in all though we had a good stay. The site is quiet and peaceful and located in a great area to be able to express further afield.

Broken kettle. Some damage around the cabin. No way of drying clothes after washing.

  • "We had a few concerns about the lodge on arrival."

The top front step was collapsing and unsafe so we had to enter by the patio doors, the steps at that end were just starting to collapse but were safer, no smoke alarm in the kitchen/lounge area and the WiFi did not work. The lady who was cleaning the lodge when we arrived went to another lodge and borrowed the hub so we had WiFi. The lodge is starting to look a bit tired and would benefit from new flooring and lounge furniture. There was no contact number for us to report these faults to. We wouldn't go back to this lodge as it is now but with an upgrade it would have been a lovely place to stay.

One minor problem there could be more information about the equipment, usually handbooks are kept. On the night prior to out leaving all power and lights went off. We did not know this could happen i.e. the credit could run out. I discovered a button the meter that gave some extra credit but it was only when I rang the duty manager that he was able to tell me there should be enough credit to last until the morning.

  • "The lodge was as we expected."

It had good facilities, and we found it in general good order. However, upon arrival there was still bread in the bread bin, and dishes in the dishwasher. A couple of the smaller windows should have been left open as there was a strong odour within the lodge. Our only issue with the lodge was the car parking at Lodge 30 - the driver of the white BMW would clearly drive past our lodge and then leave their car clearly over the back of our lodge, as opposed to driving around to their lodge the right way, which they had to do when our car was parked by the lodge. Auchterarder as a base was superb - so close to the A9 that we able to venture out far and wide. The town was great too, with a Co-op and a great restaurant - Delivino, which we would highly recommend.

Shower enclosure needs new silicone as silicone has mould and not to pleasing on the eye. Carpet could do with a shampoo as it has some stains WiFi not to good but wasn’t to much of a problem. Double bed not to comfortable would suggest a better quality mattress. Overall a very pleasant stay the above comments are more if you wish to improve these didn’t effect our holiday as I say these were more observations for aesthetics. Thank you for a lovely holiday

The reason why I give it a 9 was a few niggles. The vacuum cleaner needs attention .The wire is perished by the handle, so it could not be used. Could do with a new set of main dinner plates as they were chipped. Over all we had a fantastic holiday . Central to major cities towns and attractions .And would not hesitate to book again in the future. Over all fantastic lodge.

They parked it so close to our next door outside seating area and along side our car. They had amply parking outside their own lodge but continued to park one car in our bit. As it looked like they lived in their one permanently it was annoying when they came home very late at night and woke us up. A lovely lodge apart from parking issue. Won’t be back to that lodge as looks like issue with parking would be an issue and especially if you had maximum people in our lodge.

We were unfortunately unable to connect to the Wifi and so had to use our mobile data whilst there. It would have been helpful to be provided a welcome guide with appliance manuals as I was unsure of how to use the oven. I felt it would have been helpful to have had an extra bin bag for rubbish in the kitchen and also when we removed the bin bag in the bin we noticed that there was rubbish at the bottom of the bin so we cleaned the bin out as it was starting to smell. Also the key to the lodge was found in the front door and not in the key safe as I thought it would be.

About the location

AUCHTERARDER

Crieff 9 miles; Perth 13 miles; Stirling 20 miles; Glasgow 45 miles; Edinburgh 58 miles.

From the Gaelic meaning Upper Highland, the small town of Auchterarder sits amidst stunning rural scenery in Scotland’s beautiful Strathearn, Perthshire. The town was once affectionately known as The Town of 100 Drawbridges in the Middle Ages, on account of the small bridges that criss-crossed the gutters, offering access between the road and the houses. Gaining the title of Royal Burgh in 1200, Auchterarder was subsequently torched and completely destroyed by retreating Jacobites in 1715, and only the handloom industry allowed it to grow and thrive again. On the occassion of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton the Queen gave the title of Earl and Countess of Strathearn to the happy couple. Offering a fascinating history prominent in its old buildings, today the town is often referred to as The Lang Toun or Long Town after its 1.5 mile long main street, which leads to its thriving centre where many attractive shops, cafes and bars can be found. Hill walking, horse riding, cycling, shooting, fishing and even parachuting are available in this wonderful area, but golf enthusiasts will be especially delighted with the famous Gleneagles Hotel complex and Auchterarder Golf Club next door. St Andrews and Carnoustie are also an easy travel distance away.
