Just show me Glamorgan holiday cottages

Looking for pastoral countryside dotted here and there with welcoming villages? Opt for a holiday cottage in Glamorgan, one of Wales' oldest and prettiest counties.

Throughout its history, Glamorgan has been a peaceful, rural county, typified by its rolling valleys and stunning heritage coast. The county lies at Wales' most southerly tip, making it perfect for sunseekers and hikers alike, as well as those travelling by public transport from the Welsh capital, Cardiff.

The coast beckons on a Glamorgan cottage break

Let's begin at the coast, where natural beauty and traditional seaside towns make for a vibrant place to stay on your Glamorgan cottage break. The Glamorgan Heritage Coast is a hotspot for walkers, who are drawn to the shore by the yellow-grey cliffs, typical of the Celtic Sea coast. One of the best ways to take in the Glamorgan Coast is with a hike between Porthcawl and Aberthaw, a 14-mile stretch with spellbinding views.

Head into one of Glamorgan's two coastal towns - Penarth and Barry - and experience all the fun of the seaside. Lying just across Cardiff Bay, Penarth is a Victorian coastal resort whose charm and character makes for a great daytrip destination. The town features an array of elegant Edwardian architecture, as well as one of Wales' only surviving pleasure piers.

Alternatively, head west and visit Barry, another charming coastal town made famous by Gavin and Stacey. Barry is home to a stunning beach, and is the perfect place for a quintessential seaside break.

Elsewhere on a Glamorgan cottage holiday, you'll find a host of classy shops and delicious eateries in Cowbridge, a town famous for its unmissable food festival. Beyond the borders of this sophisticated town, the country parks of Porthkerry and Cosmeston will be a pleasant pit stop for walkers and picnickers alike.

If you're in a search of an alternate holiday destination in South Wales, a cottage break in Glamorgan could be just what you're looking for.
