Lakeside action near your Ambleside cottage

Head for Waterhead and enjoy lots of fun on the water - sailing, canoeing, fishing etc. Soak up the views with a leisurely trip aboard a lake steamer, feed the ducks, have a lakeside picnic - the choice is yours!

Ambleside also has an interesting artistic and literary heritage, best explored through visits to local galleries and the Armitt Museum & Library, offering all kinds of exhibits and information from Roman times to the present day. Wander around Ambleside's historic streets and look out for Bridge House, a tiny yet iconic landmark managed by the National Trust. There's also evidence of a Roman fort near Waterhead and a pretty parish church.
