Where to Eat & Drink in the Peak District

Explore the Peak District’s finest eating and drinking establishments

Looking for some fantastic dining out opportunities in the Peak District? Our handy eating and drinking guide divulges the best bars, restaurants, pubs and cafés to visit during your stay.

Known for its impressive landscapes, charming market towns and grand country houses, the Peak District is a popular destination for tourists year-round. Lesser known would be the impressive food and drink scene in the area, providing everything from traditional pubs and cosy cafes to Michelin starred restaurants. Whatever your desire, there a plenty of fantastic places to eat and drink in the Peak District.

To dine at Fischers of Baslow Hall is a luxurious experience; amongst fine dining restaurants in the Peak District, this is the only one to be awarded a Michelin star. While enjoying the beautiful food, diners can admire the views across the grand Edwardian manor house’s five acres of stunning gardens and woodlands. For a more laid-back atmosphere, head to one of the many pubs in the Peak District and relax in front of a roaring fire with some hearty and tasty food. The Devonshire Arms in the picturesque village of Beeley would be a prime example. The traditional 18th century pub is based within the grounds of Chatsworth House and is the perfect spot to fill up on some mouth-watering food and relax in front of the large open fire.

When visiting the area, it would be a mistake not to try one of its most famous delicacies, the Bakewell tart. Many cafes in the Peak District will sell both Bakewell tarts and puddings, but the original would be the Bakewell Pudding Shop, having sold the desert since 1865. Unsurprisingly, the shop is based in the market town of Bakewell and contains both a restaurant and café, providing customers with the chance to try the pudding and tart, as well as a range of delicious main meals and cakes.
