Find Holidays in Trellech
Perfect for… immersing yourself in long-lost heritage, exceptionally beautiful surroundings, and discovering the natural wonders of the Welsh Border
The Welsh village of Trellech is a little place, with a big history… Now a peaceful spot in the Monmouthshire countryside, it was once one of the largest settlements in medieval Wales. Destroyed during the 15th century Welsh Revolt and lost for centuries, it’s now widely accepted that the village lies on the site of this mammoth former city, after painstaking archaeological work done in recent decades unearthed scores of Medieval findings.
The Lost City of Trellech centre now allows visitors to play their own part in bringing the city back to the light of day, with dig experience days. Trellech is found at the heart of the Wye Valley AONB, a gorgeous landscape of rolling hills, leafy woodlands, dramatic gorges and historic towns, all straddling the England-Wales border.
Climbing Trellech’s Beacon Hill, the highest point in the county, rewards you with stunning views across these spectacular terrains, that are simply waiting to be explored.
