Find Holidays in Bronte Country
Perfect for… literary lovers, dramatic moorland and idyllic villages
Bronte Country is an area of the South Pennine Hills in West Yorkshire, given the name for being the birthplace of the famous Bronte sisters, who not only lived in the area but also based many of their classic novels there.
Much of the inspiration for their renowned stories was taken from the natural and dramatic landscapes. The famous house on the hill that features in Wuthering Heights is believed to be based on Top Withens, which can be seen in the bleak and moody moors. The location is ideal for a rural escape; you can enjoy wandering through the charming countryside and soaking up the natural terrain.
Haworth is a pretty village in the country, which has picturesque buildings and a pleasant selection of local shops. It is also home to the Bronte Parsonage Museum, a popular attraction for tourists to soak up the romance and history of the Bronte sisters’ iconic literary masterpieces.
