Our Coniston Travel Guide includes… places to stay, things to do and how to get to Coniston

The village of Coniston is home to one of the largest and most charming lakes in Cumbria, Coniston Water. Another of its iconic features is The Old Man of Coniston, the dramatic and imposing fell that can be seen from the centre of the village.

The village itself is filled with fascinating features, including the Monk Coniston estate, formally owned by Beatrix Potter and since her death, owned by the National Trust. Poet John Ruskin also lived in the area, in a grand lakeside property called Brantwood, which runs family events and concerts throughout the year.

Tarn Hows is an incredible beauty spot, one of the most popular destinations in Lakeland, and offers incredible walking trails.

Back in the centre of town, you will be met with a good selection of shops, pubs and cafés to satisfy your culinary cravings.

Filled with idyllic surroundings, Coniston is the perfect destination for a scenic countryside escape.
