Directions

  1. Starting Point: Cross the medieval bridge from the centre of Bakewell onto Combs Lane. Turn left at the footpath sign. Walk up the drive and turn right to a bridge.
  2. Monsal Trail: Walk right across a golf course, following a track through the wood. Follow a stream to a ladder stile, crossing and turning right toward a pond.
  3. Plantation Walk: Cross a stile by the pond to another stile, following a grassy footpath downhill toward a gate above a plantation. Follow the track toward Russain Cottage. Veer left before this at the Edensor signpost.
  4. Edensor Village: Cross the gate through Chatsworth Park, walking between two plantations left of Edensor Church. On the right, four stone steps reveal a wrought-iron gate.Cross the gate and follow a tarmac road into Edensor.
  5. Chatsworth House: Leave the village through white gates, cross the main road and take the footpath to Chatsworth House.
  6. Return to Bakewell: Retrace your steps back to Bakewell.
