Blackgang Chine, Isle of Wight

Blackgang Chine came to be in 1843, when Alexander Dabell showcased the skeleton of a giant whale to his fellow Victorians. This bizarre attraction was the first in the park and over time Blackgang Chine received a wealth of fantastic rides and monuments.

Nowadays, it is a sought-after day out for any family visiting the Isle of Wight, and offers plenty to experience!

A major highlight of Blackgang Chine has to be its exhilarating rides. Memorable picks include Evolution, a drop ride which is bound to thrill, and Cliffhanger, the Isle of Wight’s only roller coaster.

If you’re visiting with little ones, why not treat them to the calmer rides of the Pirate Barrels or the life-sized Snakes & Ladders game? Rumpus Mansion is another Blackgang Chine highlight, where you can uncover mythical creatures.

Restricted Area 5 is ideal for anyone wanting to test their fear factor. This part of the park houses an array of scary, life-sized dinosaurs, including an animatronic T-Rex.

The delightful area of Fairyland is another Blackgang Chine must-see. Here, the little ones can enjoy exploring Toadstool Village and ascend the spiralling stairs to the enchanting castle.
