Directions

  • Head through the bridleway gate from the car park to begin this stunning circular Yorkshire walk. Turn right through the gate and continue until you reach a wooden gate, keep on this path which passes through a series of open gateways until you come across a further wooden gate
  • A surfaced trail prevents marvellous scenery all around, you will then reach a steep stone path leading to the remarkable summit of Buckden Pike, standing at an impressive 702km
  • Without passing over the wall, keep it to your left as you follow it along the moorland ridge. As you reach the southern part of the ridge, climb the ladder stile and stumble across the Polish War Memorial
  • As you head downhill from here, keep the wall to your right-hand side. Take care here as the ground is uneven in places. Turn right through the gate in the wall and take the Walden Road for 2 miles towards Starbotton
  • When you reach Starbotton, cross the road and continue along the lane towards the river. Head over the bridge then make your way along the Dales Way footpath on the banks of the River Wharfe, leading back to Buckden. As you approach the road, go through the gate and turn right, walk over the bridge and find yourself back the the car park in Buckden
