Lauriston Castle

Lauriston Castle rests within serene grounds near Edinburgh’s scenic coast. This castle sports Edwardian and Georgian architecture, filled with elegant furnishing and artifacts.

The castle has medieval beginnings and housed many interesting occupants during its time. The latest residents were the Reids, a local family with businesses in Edinburgh.

William Reid designed the property’s interiors as you see them today, incorporating Lauriston’s collections throughout. You’ll come across these during tours of the castle, including stunning Crossley wool mosaics and Eastern rugs.

A major feature of Lauriston Castle has to be its free grounds. Here, you can enjoy leisurely strolls around the Japenese Garden, admire the distant sea views and even access a nearby promenade.

The grounds welcome pets, too, so you can bring your furry friend along for a walk!

Despite being a stunning place for an outing, the castle is allegedly haunted. Beware of fleeting shadows in the windows and the sounds of ghostly footsteps!

After exploring the site, be sure to pop into Mimi’s Bakehouse for a sweet treat. Here, you can rest your legs and tuck into a sumptuous scone or traybake.

Lauriston Castle also hosts a range of costumed performances and events. There’re plenty of these to choose from, including craft workshops and an outdoor bootcamp.
