Directions

Starting Point: Climb steps at the car park’s top, follow the path by the road to a small gate with a National Trust sign. Go through the gate, veering left.
Ascend to Mam Tor: Ascend stone steps until the ground levels just below the summit of Mam Tor.
Summit Experience: Follow the stepped and stone-pitched path, rebuilt by the estate team, to reach the summit.
Ridge Exploration: After enjoying views from the trig point, follow the flagstone path north along the ridge until it becomes steeper.
Monumental Descent: Continue down the path to a small monument in a dip in the ridge.
Woodland Skirt: Turn right, downhill towards Mam Tor, take the right fork before the trees, skirting around the woods. Follow the path to the road.
Road Ascent: Walk up the road, through a gate, to a broken road caused by a landslide.
Cavern Exploration: Continue up the broken road, pass through a gate and parking area. Turn left down the track to Blue John Cavern. Explore the show cave (not National Trust) with the rare mineral.
Hilltop Circuit: Pass the mine entrance building, go through a small gate, and up a grassy path. Bear right at the hilltop, go through a gate, cross the field and road, take the left fork uphill to the entrance of Windy Knoll cave. Do not enter due to recent rockfalls.
Return to Mam Nick: From the cave, cross the field to a small gate by the road. Cross this road and walk along the grass verge back to the Mam Nick car park.
