Just show me Kingussie Cottages

Please find below a selection of self catering holiday cottages to rent in Kingussie, Scotland.

A Kingussie cottage holiday promises a number of things: clean mountain air, magnificent scenery, the warmest Highland hospitality and plenty of things to see and do.

Feel like you've been here before? Perhaps you watched the popular TV series 'Monarch of the Glen'. It was filmed on location in the Upper Spey Valley and many scenes featured Kingussie.

When it comes to outdoor activities, Kingussie comes up trumps with rock climbing, hill walking, horse-riding and a variety of water and winter sports. Golfers will delight at the dramatic hillside fairways of the 18-hole course, affording amazing views of the Cairngorms National Park.

More leisurely outdoor pursuits include fishing and bird watching at the Insh Marshes Bird Reserve, an important area of wetlands with the chance to spot rare birds as well as wild cats, otters and roe deer. For close encounters with other animals, both local and exotic, head for the Highland Wildlife Park, where you drive around the main reserve and then explore another area on foot.

Perhaps Kingussie's main claim to fame is shinty, an ancient Gaelic field sport requiring speed, stamina and courage. Do try and watch the local team in action during your Kingussie cottage holiday.

Interested in history? Visit the Highland Folk Museum and step back in time to the 1700s; or walk to the ruins of Ruthven Barracks, a fascinating site of historic interest amid glorious surroundings.

Add a selection of fine eateries and your Kingussie cottage holiday is complete.
