AnonymousOct 2023 "Lovely location" AnonymousOct 2023 "They are spacious luxury lodges with hot tubs, set in the middle of the forest with all the wildlife." AnonymousOct 2023 "Place is looking a bit tired." Heating wasn't working. They were no nice little extras to make it feel special AnonymousOct 2023 "We enjoyed the peace and quiet in a lovely setting" AnonymousOct 2023 "It's just such a lovely peaceful break" AnonymousOct 2023 "It's relaxing for a short break, lodges are spacious, hot tubs are big enough for 4 adults, the beds are comfy." The forest area around the lodges is great for bikes, dog walking, trail running or gentle walks. Plenty to spot out and about and some of the activities on site are good, most are aimed at younger children, not much for teenagers. The cafe is small but great for a coffee & cake pit stop. We also had pizzas delivered to the lodge which were huge and delicious, this also included garlic bread & ice cream. Not much else in the way of eateries, but if you were happy to cook in the evenings then this isn't a problem. We also had breakfast at the forest retreat which was amazing. Will definitely return for another short break next year. AnonymousOct 2023 "Have been a dozen times in past but def not as good this time." There’s a canopy of oak trees, which feels like a different world. Venture out to the Wye Valley, conquer the soaring outcrop of Symonds Yat and explore Puzzlewood, or try your hand at canoeing, llama trekking and mountain biking. Symonds Yat straddles the River Wye on the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire borders. The perfect spot for a summer day out, it’s half an hour’s walk through the woods from the Forest of Dean cabin. After watching the peregrines at Symonds Yat Rock, take a riverside walk and then enjoy a hearty meal at the Saracen’s Head Inn. A great way to understand something of the character of the Forest of Dean is to take a whistle stop tour of its four market towns, Cinderford, Cole ford, Lydney, and Newent, each with a different but related history.
