All aboard! Bring the family and your dog to Lappa Valley and enjoy a trip by miniature steam train. There's also a boating lake, maze, crazy golf, play areas and nature trails, as well as some interesting wildlife, including buzzards, woodpeckers, mallards and summer swallows.

Another fantastic daytrip just a short drive from our St. Newlyn East holiday properties is Trerice Manor and Gardens, part of the National Trust's extensive Cornish portfolio. Test your skills at Slapcock or Kayling on the Bowling Green, try your hand at brass rubbing, or simply wander the stunning estate.

Head three miles north to Newquay and the spectacular north coast, where action-packed adventure reigns. From its bustling harbour and stylish eateries to surf shops, cinema, zoo, aquarium, aircraft museum and fun parks, there's something here for everyone.

Take the scenic coast road north to Porth Beach and Island, where you'll discover prehistoric earthworks and an amazing cliff-top blow hole. For extreme water sports and more, try Watergate Bay. Other wonderful beaches include Holywell Bay and Crantock Beach, popular with surfers and featuring sand dunes, rock pools and dog-friendly sands. Between the two nestles the lesser-known Porth Joke Beach, a narrow cove with great rock pools and caves.

Then end your day sampling one of the daily specials at the local village pub.
